I have read that special FBL blades are a good idea for most fbl systems. I read that FBL blades are, heaver, cg closer to the tip, and cg closer to the leading edge. I also read that FBL blade pairs when suspended by a rod though their bolt hole should hang straight down and not come together at the tip like standard blades would. This is due to the cg being farther toward the leading edge.

That is all fine. With all these differences it seems FBL blades serve a purpose. Well guess what. None of this applies to the Align 325mm 3g blades which I thought were Align's FBL version. Their weight is within .5gram of the standard align carbon blades. The CG is within 1/8" from root to tip of the standard blades. They also cross when suspended by a rod in the bolt whole exactly like the standard blade.

So what gives? Does align just stamp "3g" on their standard blades? Is this all just marketing hype? Does align just make poor FBL blades?

Yup that's all true.
I do have a set of Align 550s that are for flybarred that do hang nearly straight and fly well.
Radix standards are a heavier blade and they cross slightly but also fly well.

If you skip me I can't play!

I have never been a fan of the Align blades - I know a few pilots who fly them ..... I mite just have to ask them if they notice any differences with the FB / FBL blades ?

FAI blades are good for both FB and FBL.
