Hello all, I'm fairly new to nitro heli's and recently ressurected an older Century Falcon III (46 nitro). Took it out for its first flight in several years and it ran great. Took it out for its second flight and as the nitro engine revved up only the tail blades were spinning with force, no rotation on the main blades. I dont think its a bad clutch because the tail is still getting power but as I said I am new to nitro heli's. I checked all the gears and nothing seemed to be loose or stripped.. Any thoughts from the community on what might be wrong is really appreciated.

Thank you!
J

Did the engine start backwards? That would cause exactly what you described.

Engine started up normally and I didnt notice anything out of the ordinary as it fired up. I'll give it another check and try to get some pictures of the drive train if it might be helpful.

Dollars to donuts, it's most likely as simple as the engine started backwards. Assuming your one-way bearing is still correctly functioning, that is.

Note that turning the main gear one direction causes the tail rotor to spin but not the main rotor. Turning it the other way causes both to spin.

If it happens again, try to note which way the tail rotor is spinning.

If it's not the engine running backwards,go straight for the one way bearing.

I do'nt crash,I just rearrange parts.

I tore a nexus down to the frames to find out the engine was running backwards.

Lean out your low end a little.
