No offense intended, but...

Castle Creations makes junk - and it is all made in the Good'Ol US-ofA.
I've posted about the CC BEC Pro failing because the wire break off - and that is happening to a lot of them. That is an example of badly constructed HW failing - and it is not made in China.

And, when you get details on the design of the Futaba FBL units (as an example), you find that the software design was contracted out. The next release of their software was contracted out to a different design company - and it was crap.

The reality of it is not the hardware, but the software.
All of the units from all of the manufactures are well built - it is the software that makes the difference. If the SW is crap, it doesn't matter how well the HW is constructed.

These units use pirated code from someone else. It is ported it to their own hardware. That's why the unit is so cheap - no SW development costs.
The real question is: Who did they steal it from, and which version did they steal?

And, BTW, "funguy" - You sound like a racist.
I hope you are just as willing to punch out the guy that shows up with the Castle Creation ESC that catches on fire or the Castle Create BEC Pro whose wires break off and send the heli spinning out of control into the crowd.

Lol, "ticedoff" your silly, you don't even know my ethnicity or know me, racist against what race?
Besides you are jumping to conclusions, you talk about hardware failure then jump to software??? Your wire broke off probably because you mounted it incorrectly. You may have had the wire mounted like this, crashed because of something else and the wire broke off;

Please stop being silly.

It is a fact: Castle Creations makes crap - period.
"Made in the US" doesn't equal the best - or even very good.
Wires breaking off the BEC Pro are unrelated to how the wire are supported - if Castle needed "special" support on the BEC Pro, they should have designed and built it into their design - opps bad HW design from a US company.

And, the problems with the CC ESC catching on fire was a software issue - not a hardware issue. It was fixed in the last SW update with different phasing on the FETs. Please, buy a clue when you get a chance.

The $30 FLB controller is ALL about software - not HW. Coming from the east coast, I wouldn't expect you to know that.

Being racist is not based on your current ethnicity - it is all based on your comment about your assumption that the FBL controller from CoptorX is junk, because it came from China. If you assume only whites can be racist, then you really are pretty sheltered - and a racist.

I plan to use the CopterX FBL on my 450 Pro.

Interesting stuff. I didn't know about Futaba software. I do know about CC, from the 30+ ESC I have only the 2 CC are dead (more than a year ago, no flames, no harm, just peaceful dead)

But more interesting is your assumption about the 30 USD unit. For me the software look genuine, the only resemblance is with the V-bar setup software but only in looks. There are only a handful of FBL brands on the market, it should be easy to spot the ripoff.

Seems like you confusing prejudice with racism, stop using hate words you do not understand. I am neither you silly little person. We are talking about cheap made products period, and they all come from China. Most quality goods come from America, Japan, and Germany. Do you have a problem with American made goods "ticedoff8"?

Is that a literal or figurative fist, Funguy? I understand the sentiment - I don't like using devices that are subject to what I assume is substandard (or possibly stolen) qc and firmware, respectively. AND, I would normally say that violence is not the answer!!! (cue Indian Raga ala Gandhi) but the fact is that an out of control 3D rocket-ship equipped with 600-700 size blades will very handily inflict whatever violence is required ergo you save your fists! No need to bloody your knuckles.

I have recently had a bad experience with a knockoff "HV" servo (among other things) and just don't use rc gear that I don't trust. That trust may be misplaced - I realize a lot of this stuff is made in asia. But there are asian-made products and then there are "asian-made products." read Apple Iphone and Toyota. Some are obviously of the highest quality, but I would say that the majority are not. With something as inherently dangerous as a large heli, I'm going to err on the side of conservatism.

Thank you "Jockobadger," for the your words "cue Indian Raga ala Gandhi"
I am not violent, notice I never said I would hit anyone. The image of me saying "cock my arm back and follow through with my fist" was all in the mind of the reader to imagine violence. For crying out loud have some nationalism "ticedoff8." I am only hoping you are American and love this country, please never talk negative about American made stuff, it is bad enough other countries try.

Looks cool but I don't think I would install it in Anything bigger than a 450, for 30 bucks would be worth a try.

so just out of curiosity, how many flights on it, or testing done to it, for folks to consider the unit trustworthy?

As for the "cheap" comments Mr Funguy, not appreciated, you dont know me, perhaps you should reread my signature below

This apply to everything RC. Doesn't matter how many good flight I have with this unit/gyro/servo/ESC, etc.

I look at the number of reported problem/negative feedback.

Until now the ZYX FBL family have a very good track record in terms of reliability.

Our RC heli are not safe buy any stretch of imagination. Anything could fail and will fail so better fly safe. A good, top heli is in a way more dangerous because it give a false security feeling.

Well I am trying to help a guy here where I live that bought a copterx fbl gyro. Not real sure what the problem is with it but cant get the tail servo to work right and if we do get to fly it we are not able to control the chopper very well either. I myself will never put one of these cheap things on any of my choppers. I am flying a futaba 750 and that thing is awsome. Works perfectly. I also have vbar and works perfectly. I dont know where ppl say the futaba is junk as I have set up several of them and every one works perfectly. Sounds like ppls setups are not right. I am also setting up a 700 electric and guess what? Castle Creations 160 hv is going in it even tho everyone says they are junk. I am betting that setup is the main culprit there too. Other than the recalled ones.

could setup possibly be why the copterx unit you are trying to setup isnt working? Had futabas, they ok, nothing brilliant, certainly not perfect tho

Hello,
I have an V-Bar,750,2x BeastX, Align3GX, GT5,SK360,and this CopterX, and I must say it flys very good. I had it out in 20 knot winds and it flew as good as the BeastX. I haven't been able to fault it. It is a very good unit. It has Invensence Sensors and looks like a copy of a BeastX. The case is all CNC aluminum.

Well Heliguychris you could be right that the setup may not be right but he has a programer and it is pretty basic to set it up. He is using analog servos and it is set up for that but what it acts to me like is that it is still using the digital setup. Servo gets real hot quick. We have reset it I dont know how many times and still same thing. Now I will give it this much he has went cheap on everything, chinese heli, with this gyro, and to top it all off 5 dollar servos. Now a person maybe can argue the gyro and the chopper as them being just as good but sorry on the servos they are junk. One thing I have found on these things is that not all things are good that are cheap and servos really apply here.
