i wouldn't get a plug n play kit. you can buy the parts seperate for cheaper and solder it up yourself or get someone else to do it.

I agree Ben as I have been flying mine stock for awhile now. I just bought a used V1 from my friend and couldn't resist trying out the CO5 setup with the 7A esc. I modified the stock frame but it left it so weak it cracked with no crash so I ordered the Extreme frame. I just got home from a business trip and the frame is here so I will start on it today. I got a couple of flights on the BL setup before the frame let go. It was very smooth and I lowered collective pitch to 70% and was very happy ,good deal more poop but not overwhelming ,but that is only 2 flights. With the stock motor collective management is key and since I fly big gassers that require CM more so than a Electric or nitro it was perfect for me. I plan on keeping one stock and one modified.

Nothing wrong with stock! They fly very well!

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

well I got it assembled the frame and installed my Co5 BL conversion into it. Seems good although this is the only CF frame I have used for the Mcpx. Power of the motor is a nice upgrade.ZFlight time is about the same between stock and the Co5 BL upgrade. I would guess a 500 rpm headspeed improvement. All in all I am pleased.

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

yeah, i found that with the increase in the head speed that something broke EVERY time i crashed it. it kind of took some of the fun away from flying the heli. i did like the higher head speed and the faster cyclic, but i guess you cant have your cake and eat it too. and damn, i really like cake too...

well i was out today with both my mcpx's The stock one stock swash,,no upgrades only a boom extension and grommet mod and a V2 tailblade. In other words all plastic and stock motor. A Brushless mcpx with Rakon swash MH blade grips Co5 7A ,,extreme CF frame boom extension and V2 tail blade. I like Both in different ways,,,funny thing was the stock heli wasn't left in the dust by any means. My brushless was abit more powerful and smoother in cyclic and collective I guess because of the upgrades I installed. It was more predictable in the smaller commands to the heli. The new stock motor really had alot of poop for what it is,,a brushed motor. These are preliminary feelings of the flight of both heli's,,but so far the completely stock mcpx ain't too shabby! And my brushless modded CF framed mcpx is nice too. It seems I fly the stocker closer in and the BL heli I seem to fly bigger faster moves. I don't know ,,it will be 70 degrees tomorrow so I may fly some more and report back,,,but I will say at this point the stock V1 anyway is a Very good heli out of the box.

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

How does the tail mount look/feel to you? Id like to order one of these myself. I heard others saying it looked weak but no one that has one actually say so.

Ever thought to change the pinion on your stock motor?

mcpx 915, microheli, tdr
The tail mount seems ok but I am on a waiting list for boom supports for it that include skids all for 8 bucks. I heard there is an aluminum tail boom mount in the works for this frame that should be out soon.
It could be weak buy I havent crashed it yet so we will see.
Has anyone changed the pinion on the stock motor? If so from what T to what T?

i think that some people have gone up a tooth. i wish someone would put a how-to on here. that would be a really cheap way to get some more headspeed out of the stock motor.

Well I just ordered the frame today for my birthday present from the wife.

Here is a link to some info on changing out the stock pinion
http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=394643

basically you gain 18% head speed but loose 18% torque.
Good for circuits
Bad for 3d
That is the way I see it.
Thanks agian for the info on the frame. Gonna do a search and see if I can't find out anything about the metal block.

When you assemble the frame be careful because there are machine threads that go into plastic and it is rather easy to over tighten and strip the plastic. Also I am on a waiting list for aluminum skids/plastic landing gear/tailboom supports from extreme to come out at a whopping 8 bucks.

the ones from wow hobbies, ill do some looking.

seems like those that increased the pinion size from 8t to 9t ran into trouble with the stock frame and gear mesh. the others all eventually went back to the 8t cuz it caused the tail to ossilate and blow out.
