When that happened, our head block was 10 mm shorter, boom spacing was wrong and dampening was set for low head speed. Ever since then:

- Boom spacing was increased (145 mm from tip of blade to boom)
- Head block was made 10 mm wider
- Dampening and preloading of head was changed

Gentlemen, this was all part of testing, I tested this helicopter over 600 flights and in some occasions in front of a bunch of people This heli was tested more than many others that usually get tested for 2 weeks and then released, we tested the Goblin for many months and found many issues as expected, corrected them and moved on.

Good to know that this was on a prototype machine. This is one of the drawbacks of doing prototyping in front of the general public. People see failures and make the assumption that the production machines will have problems. Thats why all the prototyping of the XXtreme was done on closed fields with no cameras. Besides, I think the original poster has a serious agenda.....

Yeah he seems to have some kind of animosity towards SAB for sure, judging by some other threads.

Looking forward to getting this heli together.

I did all of the critical testing behind closed doors. However, problems do arise on occasion regardless even when not expected, that is why we tested this machine for hundreds of flights. Many other brands have had issues after release, not even as a prototype and for some unknown reason, they haven't been criticized as much. Interesting...

Same guy canceled his Goblin order a month ago after starting several bashing threads on where the heli is made as well as the head design. Now this thread. For some reason he has a serious chip on his shoulder with regards to SAB.MSH USA -- Cyclone -- Jeti -- Xnova

For some, this is a business. The more the hobby grows, the more the politics and hidden agendas will surface. More than 20 700-class electric helis to choose from at the moment and all of them are decent to really good machines. The competition is tougher than ever in this industry.

Well that looks like Bert has a tad too much pitch, which might be fine beating it for over half its flight, as the batteries run down , bogging comes into play,
....on and on with a bunch of explanations you know the design is not sound for doing 3D, it is too on the edge for the regular market. Why wont the marketers just tell the public; boom strike is a risk when buying the Goblin, or when buying a DFC head, in addition to using any very low profile head. I have never saw a boom strike in person until I saw shape 9.0 get its boom chopped off clean.

That guy would be me... I would not say I have a chip more like a bag of chips LOL... No but really these are just my opinions with allot of facts mixed in about the machine. I did cancel my order and will wait until I see how it goes in the real world for now I fly my Xxtreme but I still like the Goblin just don't want to be guinea pig..

Mine is still on order and is gonna stay on order. I have seen boom strikes on all different kinds of helis. I would think if you are gonna fly one hard it will happen sooner or later. Most are from setup that I have seen and Bert said that they found the problem. I for one will take his word for it. He has one heck of a lot more experience than me.Ryan,Team JR, Team Morgan Fuels, Team KDE Direct, RCBearings.com Tech Rep

Funguy. Every heli out there will have a boom strike if setup wrong or other things come into play that the pilot don't know where it's flight envelope is.
Ex. A friend of mine from back in my MA days like to run a 1700 hs with lots of pitch. He cut off alot of booms. Then he went to avant. Same thing. Chopped off alot of booms. 1700. 11.5 lbs 14 degree or more pitch. It's ganna happen sooner or later. Then the heavy synergy n9. I watched him chop it off. So all in all he just had too low a headspeed. Still to this day. He likes running lower headspeeds than everyone else, Just need to know the limits of the machine you choose, because everyone out there has a different envelope

Sorry to bring up this old thread. I just wanted to ask Bert if the Goblins he and others had been testing prior to the public release were from the same factory or were they hand built prototypes before the mass prodution began?

Same factories, of course some parts changed during production simply because mass production requires different manufacturing processes on some specific parts. However, these parts are limited to pulleys, shafts, etc., the boom and all CNC parts are pretty much the same.

Thanks for the answer Bert. I'm not trying to bash the Goblin I'm sure that once bugs are all sorted it will be a good thing. I've just been wondering why the issues were not picked up in testing that pretty much answers it for me.
