i agree. but, we've both been up and down our respective helis repeatedly...clearly nothing LOOKS wrong. at this point it's either retire the whole helicopter, or find what's wrong by replacing things in some sort of logical manner.

That's next. I found a 2221-12 on my shelf. So I can try it on 3s. Current motor is a -8 on 4s 11t

The HKII 2221-12 is only a 2580 Kv motor. It should need 4S. I'm using a 2221-6 (4400 Kv) on 3S and an 10T (?) pinion.

you're correct, of course. i was going from memory...but when i did the kv calculations i see that the -12 on 4s w/ 13t pinion at 100% throttle should be in the same ballpark HS wise that i'm getting with the -8 on 11t 4s at 85% throttle.

after switching motors i'm seeing a lot less vibration...i was getting serious vibes on the -8 motor at 50% throttle...but i could take the -12 up to 100% with a considerable amount of vibration--but still nowhere near the -8's. but, then neither of these are new motors either.

i pulled apart the -8 motor (the original motor per this discussion) and the bearings are shot and the shaft is not true. so, the next step is ordering a shaft/bearing kit from scorpion.

Hi,just for the record,im having some issues too,sounds the same,i have to inform you that i have yet to find a straight main shaft...
kits shaft bent,ma send me replacement,bent too,i purchased 2 more,wich were bent too!!! check ur shafts!new doesnt meen straight!
im running the 8 on 13t 3s batt,very nice setup,vibration doesnt appear with head and blades on,u can hear it a bit louder on idle tho ...
still waiting for straight shafts......

After experimenting some months,having talked with MA,got some replacement parts that didnt do the trick (a complete tail actualy) i focused on the main gear...
i noticed some slop between the autorotation sleeve and the main shaft,wich caused the main gear to not spin true in high rpm.
Guess what,changed it and the heli is now perfect!
the new one was a bit of a snug fit,i guess they knew the problem and corrected it on the next parts.
go on try it,its a very cheap part,and it could save u alot of time.
other things to to is,get a small drill,and open the screw holes on the main shaft a bit,so hat the screws drop in the hole without pressure,and also sand paper the iner hole of the gear,that will prevent it from taking a bad shape.
