Older radios vs. new.
What percentage of folk are still using their old radios rather than buying new?

Watching the auctions and classifieds for a Futaba R149DP. I can't believe the prices these are still selling for.
Obviously there are still some out there!
The lot I got is not a lot, but I thank God a lot for the lot I got!

I guess old radios would be anything on 72Mhz.

Still using a JR8103H with an upgraded 2.4Ghz module.

Yes PCM are still expensive. Dont even know if they are still making them. It was cheaper for me to get the 2.4Ghz module and the Rx than just another 9 channel PCM Rx. Consider that option if you can.

I'm the same as Tayas, still use the old 9C for some stuff. The newer, better helis get the 9303 with Spektrum or FrSky receivers.

I still use my 9303 72mhz. I've thought about upgrading it but it works and would rather spend money on other stuff. I actually found a used transmitter module that lets me run it on anyone of the 72mhz channels so now I can just find cheap used recievers if I need another one and run it on any channel. Plus I don't have to worry about other people on my channels much anymore since most people switched to 2.4

Brokenlink,
Thanks for the offer! What kinda money are you wanting for it?

It's a toss-up as to whether one would buy a receiver for their 9CHP or invest in another receiver for their 7C. Albeit I do like the features of my 9CHP better.

JKos,
An old radio would be anything that's not operating on the new 2.4ghz etc. Or any of the older PCM radios.

I own a 9VHP(Old Radio) that powers itself off every few seconds of being powered up. The gentleman over at Radio South said it probably would require a new voltage regulator. This would be at least $150.00 for repair. So I bought a Futaba 7C instead.

As I said before though, I'm surprised at what some of the older receivers are still being sold for. It must be a lot of them still in use.

For some planks I still use a Futaba Attack 4 (T4BNL) and (2) (T6FG/K). For the helis I use Futaba 6c and 7c 2.4.

By upgrading the 9c to 2.4 did that make the latency quicker?

I thought about doing that but decided on a new radio instead. I kept watching for a used 2.4 Futaba module to come up in the classifieds but it didn't happen while I was looking. Futaba is pretty proud of those modules with the price they are asking for it!

I don't know what latency is but if that means it is slow, I wouldn't be able to tell. It is the only radio I have used.

I bought an Assan module and several RX from a friend cheap.
I has worked flawlessly for about 3 years now.
Thanks, TheWoodCrafter
