Uh-oh Chevy Volt's spark gone out..shutting down for 5 weeks
General Motors has told 1,300 employees at its Detroit Hamtramck that they will be temporarily laid off for five weeks as the company halts production of the Chevrolet Volt and its European counterpart, the Opel Ampera.

“Even with sales up in February over January, we are still seeking to align our production with demand,” said GM spokesman Chris Lee.

Lee said employees were told Thursday that production would put on hold from March 19 to April 23.

Chevrolet sold 1,023 Volts in the U.S. in February and has sold 1,626 so far this year.

In 2011, Chevrolet sold 7,671 Volts, but fell short of its initial goal of 10,000.

GM had planned to expand production of its Volt plug-in hybrid to 60,000 this year, with 45,000 earmarked for the U.S.

LOL no kidding! I also don't remember being consulted when they decided to make us co-owners of the failing company.

Yet some of the Nicest Design's " Pontiac " was sliced off --

Never made sense to me, ?? but some of the nicest exotic European looking stuff came from the design studio's of Pontiac.

I remember the first windshield HUD and turbo's that came out from them - and the one that just slay's me is the bigger mill Solstice that I should of just shoved in a barn some where.

Volt would be OK if they put a 4.L Honda motor in it

Pontiac was obviously an Imperialist, capitalist division and had to go! No room for such things in the new green socialist america! Anyway if you put gasoline engines in cars people will buy them instead of buying the new green pedalcars!

Oh! there is probably a provision in the Obamacare law, that no one has found yet, that mandates us all to buy a Volt next year or pay a One hundred thousand dollar fine to the IRS!

And a provision that requires all child seats to be fire proof too!
Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about!
