Did a brushless convert on MCPX
Just finished - V2, M5, converter & Oversky 7a esc. I only hovered in my living room but seems rock solid so far.. Head speed sounds nice now

Going to try it outside tomorrow.. Some pics:

It came almost plug and play, but I decided to trim and solder everything. Seems nice and toight, we'll see how it holds up.

bigben - That's the M5 motor, which is the C05 motor but made specifically to fit the MCPX's mount.. Very little trimming is needed on the frame.. It's pretty nice.

Got from clubheli.com - highly recommend them. If you order, also get some of their nanotech 300MAH 35c batts. They're $5 each and work well.

You can also get the C05 motor and ESC from Astroid Designs, Dylan will install the pinion for free too. He also makes sure the wires exit the motor properly. The lower carbon frame brace is nice too, you can really snug down the motor and it will never move. His plug and play ESC works fine on the C05 motor, or you can get the Xp7A and AEO converter and go that route too.

I'm loving this heli. It flies pretty damn good. The tail will still blow out a little if you're pulling some heavy positive G's and jam the collective.. I still need to play with the pitch endpoints a little I think.. All in all though, it flies great, very good increase over stock, good power, nice headspeed.

Feels real solid in FF, banking is crisp with a nice chopping sound from the blades, hovering is rock solid, rolls and flips like a champ. I want to try out the CF blades.

I also picked up some Novus CP tail motors because someone said they work good, but when I got them they are a bit wider than stock, and the shaft is a little thicker.. I might try to fab up a mount just to see if it holds any better, but not at the top of my list.

the nanotechs do i can verify those. it depends on which bl kit you purchase. Wow hobbies sells several plug and play kits that dont require any soldering. when ive purchased them in the past, i still shorten the wires, and hard wire the connectors to save space and weight. ive also found that the canopy gets real tight with most of the bl upgrades. there is not a lot of room around the circuit board.big ben - e550 fbl - DX6

I just installed the same motor in my V2 with Oversky 6A converter/esc. Actually reduced AUW by 3 grams! Running stock tail on extended boom and Spyder 250mAh packs. Can't believe how well this thing flys now!

hey turboracer
it looks like you are using an adhesive to hold the motor and tail plugs to the board. what is it?

bigben - after I made the solders and verified everything worked, I put a glob of hot glue on each point.. I don't want them coming undone!

Seems to be working well.. I took a few diggers including one at full speed and all stayed intact.

I love this heli!!

Dansvt - check helifreak.com MCPX brushless section for reviews - not many good ones, it appears their solder points are very brittle.

I clipped off all plug connections and did direct solder. All solder points are power points so big enough to solder with $10 Radioshak iron.. The converter signal wire I soldered directly to stock motor plug hot side and plugged into board. It all works very well, very easy transformation
