Hello honda411
How are things going with your motor? The Rossi 91 comes ready to fly out of the box no break in period needed. I like to be on the safe side and fly at least 5 tanks thru the motor. Again not necessary but that's just me.

One of the problems in the past is that we have tried to tune the Rossi like a OS or ys and it's neither. It's hard to tune by sound so I suggest tune by temp on the back of the head.

If you are running a 8.2 gear ratio the Rossi likes a higher RPM around 2150... I myself have had the motor temp at 280 deg on the head without burning it up. (don't try that) around 200-220 should be pretty safe...

One more thing make sure there are no air leaks in the system...

Please keep in touch and let me know how it goes...

Thx C.B.

Helinewby: Thanks for the info. i greatly appreciate it!

I have put 3 tanks through it so far. It was pretty hard to keep an idle without it dying on me at first. Had to lean the low end (LSN) quite a bit to get a steady idle.
I hovered one tank and the next two i flew it around upright forward without the canopy. It seemed to get decently warm though. I never allowed it to go lean at the last bit of the tank. I richened it up some more, but its producing some good smoke! It seems pretty consistent. Im happy with it so far. Too windy here today, and dont want to suck up any dust and dirt, so the other 2 or 3 tanks will have to wait a day or two.

I should have it tuned up soon. Although, one question/ issue. The exhaust seems like it moves around a little too much. All of the screws are tight, but it moves around in the rubber grommets. Is this normal, or is there a solution? ( I notice in your pictures, your pipe has the smaller side of the grommet towards the engine. Instructions say bigger side, but ???)

Thanks!

The pipe should be free to kinda "float" around this safe gaurds the pipe from vibrations. Are you seeing the pipe moving in flight? If so you got vibes. If its just somewhat easy to move with your fingers on the bench this is normal

Oh no, not in flight. But yes, on the bench seems to wiggle around a bit. I figured its because of the rubber grommets and o-rings. I should probably order up some o-rings for spares. I have a feeling these with heat and moving around some doing 3D will wear out fast. Love the look though!

Wifeorheli: BTW, coming for Phoenix fun fly this year? the 16, 17, 18th?

Muffler
As long as the muffler is not rattling around I believe it's ok. Keep a eye on the grommets sometimes they may start to break down over time.... The O rings also.

okay guys, started to ring it out a little and lean it. Produces more power being rich than my Align did leaner and more tuned in.

Although; seems idle is not steady and wanders around a lot. Cant get it steady. It will die after about 4-5 seconds after hitting throttle hold, from idle up. Then, came across the mid range needle issue. This was after i started to lean out both needles. It will idle, then give throttle, up to about 1/3 to 1/2 stick then dies. I want to say there was a puff of smoke right when it cuts out, and it dies nearly instantly. I still have yet to play around with the needles more. Had to end the day from no sun, and flybar came loose causing paddles to wander around.
