I guess you'd have to run governors and dial them in precisely - or for most of your flight it would be essentially on one engine. Maybe a rev limiter would work better in this application.

You'd think something like the 52cc Bergen twin would be a better solution than having two engines working independently.

How are double powerplants used in helis?
Are they coupled to a common main gear through double clutch bearings or does another more complicated mechanical arrangement i being used?

We custom built 4 of these heli's for university programs a few years back. The units used two 30cc engines in case of a failure. The motors are mounted in a 45 degree fashion in the rear of the heli to eliminate C.G. problems. The heli's would lift 20lbs of payload for about 1 1/2 hours. It's 8 ft long 39" tall with a Kenyon stabilized KS-4 mount. The units used two separate clutches with one way bearings installed to eliminate clutch engagement during a engine failure.(If release bearings are not used the motor that failed will stay engaged destoying the drive belt) The drive belt is 3/4" Kevlar.

Since everything is getting lighter we don't plan on building anymore of these units this size. The heli ran 1050mm mains with 140mm tail blades

Food for thought.
