Sorry 'bout your bad luck, Ed! Yeah, I'd switch to the EC5 connectors if I were you. I've honestly never had an issue with the Deans on my 500, but I really like the EC5's on my 550.

I forwarded some information on a couple of controllers for sale to Chris a couple days ago, but I haven't heard back from him yet. Thank you guys for the helpful information!

Looks like a pretty good chance of rain/t-storms tomorrow, so I think I might wait until Sunday to fly.

Got a question guys - if I go to an HV setup on my 500Pro, do I really just need a new speed controller, i.e. will the BeastX with a single satellite handle 7.4 volts?

Obviously, I'd be selecting different servos. I currently have the MKS9670a+ and I'm more and more convinced that these just don't have the torque to handle the Pro. Thinking about going to something faster with more torque - maybe RJX or BKS?

Open to advice here...

Actually, I'm thinking of using the Phoenix Edge Lite 75, which supports up to 8 volts, and switching to ServoKing DS-790SHV for CCPM and DS-795I-SHV. I purchased the Futaba R7003SB receiver to go with the 14SG I have and it's supposed to be a high voltage receiver, with Sbus1 and 2 supported - not sure if the BeastX supports Sbus2, but I know it supports 1.

There was an issue some time ago with the BeastX and HV servos having to run at a much slower rate... I think that's resolved now if anyone knows more, would love to hear.

Susan and I will be out at the park tonight with a new and improved tripod... Trying to get good with the new camera, if anyone's interested in coming out - will be there around 6:30/7pm for a couple hours. Bring bug spray.

I know that each of us spends hundreds if not thousands of hours on our hobby - making sure our helis are constructed properly, configured and setup properly, etc. We often don't think about or take too seriously the "rights" we have in this country to enjoy our hobby.

Dennis mentioned the FAA's latest Rule release - FAA-2014-0396, as it's posted on the AMA site:

http://amablog.modelaircraft.org/am...-aircraft-rule/

I hope that everyone will take a moment to read this blog post, read the regulation release from the FAA and definitely, take the few minutes that it takes to make comments on http://www.regulations.gov.

Our participation in the rulemaking surrounding our hobby is becoming more and more important. The FAA is taking this seriously and I think we should.
