Just finished the build on the heli, the build went well
very good quality. The test flight went with no issues,
good power, very smooth. I think it will be a decent heli.

I am looking at putting one of these together so I am interested in how you feel it flies after you get a few more flights. What other helis do you own to compare it against?

Also, how is the power with the Scorpion on 12s (what batteries are you using)?

I'm using vbar gov with fusion hawk 12s tp 65c 3800 and align 700mx 510kv, good power motor stays relatively cool hard 3d , I like my scorpion motors for rewinds but they got to pricey for what you get compared to the likes of the align and in stock form doesn't impress me much
Had a couple logos 6003d and 600se before this but tbh this is in a different class quality wise and can handle much higher head speeds, don't get me wrong, logos are good, but this is nicer
Between my tdrs, compass 7hv, e720, all on hand wind motors it can hold its own albeit a smaller machine
Little nose heavy on the tp but not noticeable in flight.

Common sense may not be common after all

Good to know Stolla. I am trying to decide on a FBL unit and radio. Been a couple years since I flew so catching up with the technology again :P.

The Align motor works ok? I want good power and good efficiency (as long as flight times as possible for 3D). I use to have an Align a few years back but the quality was questionable. I'm sure they have stepped it up over the past couple years.

As far as CG issues, would there be a battery that is lighter than the TP 3800s in the same MAH? I do like to build my birds as light as possible without sacrificing quality so perhaps there is a way I can select the components and position things to where this bird will balance out ok.

so far I have had 3 flights on the heli , it fly's
very similar to the logo 600. The batteries I am
using are volts 3300 and nano tech 3300, balance is
ok with these.

What kind of flight times are you seeing with these size packs, and what kind of flying have you done so far?

I'm on 5 mins punishing it some low speed 1900 with some high 2250 mixed
New mx motor, almost exact copy of pyro, has good power for this application.I'm running bls 451 for cyclic and bls 251 on tail, I can honestly recommend this setup, also good alternative to run jive 80 hv
trust me you won't notice the cg problems, it flies exactly like my other birds with perfect cg and I do all kinds of piro flying .
As for motor and cg I planned to rewind motor and have a conversion to longer boom to correct cg but its so good as is that I'm not gonna bother
For unit vbar still my choice, I also have beast and ace gt5, radio I just moved to sbus fut 8fg due to satellite failures on spektrum causing a crash with my tdr after a logged 242kmh run!

I will know more next weekend, I might be able to
video a flight. But my logo 600 has about the same
set up and I get 5 min at 2150.

Ok my opinion:
I don't trust dx8, many issues even though they say its fixed, so if say fut 8fg, I've been jr user many years but if you use sats only with the new fless units you have no cross checking which means you may have 2 sats with solid leds and only 1 may actually work, also the new sbus rx is a much cleaner install than 2sats
if you go spek, beast is a good option with built in rx,
Esc if you want the best out of your heli you need a good gov, there only 2 options that work really well, jive esc and running the vbar gov on one of the cheaper escs, best here is fusion hawk 120hv, I've seen many ice escs fry, and cause damage to helis so although many still use it and swear by it I won't even consider it!
Charger hyperion due, had 2I chargers, fried both, hyperions warrantee and the fact you charge 2 at same time unbeatable combination
Servos, align cyclic servos are good but keep in mind they draw approx 16 amp on fless, for not much more fut bls 451 is a better option, brushless and draws half the amps, yes I've logged them! Tail servo bls251, we had 4 failures on align tail servos, Also they don't work nearly as well as bls, while they work!
Motor the align is a better option having similar power but runs a lot cooler and cheaper a well, scorpions used to be a bargain, not anymore imop
3300s will give you only approx 3 and a half to 4 mins flight time with mixed low and high headspeeds flying hard, but if you fly big sky they're ok
if you run anything but a jive you will need external bec, western robotics hv being the best imop, however jive esc has best bec in the business so less clutter and it protects itself and the machine, worth the expense!
Again this is my opinion based on personal experience

Common sense may not be common after all

Hi,

Here is my setup for my E8.
- kontronik Jive HV80,
- Pyro 700-52,
- BLS 451 on cyclic
- BLS 251
- CGY 750
- Edge 603
- Kypom batteries 6S 35C 3700mAh

Electronic come from my logo 600, except for the motor (logo was equipped with Scorpion 4035-560).

Just one word : AWESOME !!
Power is enormous, more than my older logo.
I think it's because of the pyro motor. It flies like a rocket.

No regret for switching from the logo to the E8. Also, quality is top notch.

Regards, Nicolas

Pyro is a great motor on 12s, if you want to spend the money, on a 90 size it outperforms the mx but to be honest on the smaller machine I can't tell the difference
I had the pyro in my logo now rewinded in the tdr.
Nicolas nice setup I presume you mean 2x6s for 12s, some newbies may think you run 6s
Important on jive is to keep thr percentage under 65 percent as per latest kontronik hjive manual, this for enough headroom on the gov, makes a world of difference

Fantastic! just be sure to set your failsafe on the futaba to ON and not hold but FS for the throttle channel, then run without blades and make sure it works when you turn tx off. I'm exited on your behalf.
Get heatsink for jive and 2 power cables, slave to rx and master to vbar
Youre welcome to PM me about setup questions vbar settings etc.
Before i forget turn the autotrim feature off on the vbar as you wont need it with the swash centering system on the e8.

I will be sure to ask you questions when it all gets here. I ordered the 6S Gens Ace 3800mah packs and got the icharger 306B w/ Mean Well 1000W power supply. I really wanted to keep the heli light but didn't want a 3 minute flight either. Hopefully this is a nice compromise of weight and flight time.

Sounds like my new machine will be awesome. I have it built just waiting now for my KDE motor (KDE600XF-530), which should be awesome. CGY 750, Futaba HV servos. Should really rock

Im using desire power 40c 3400 6s x2 ( 12s ).
Hacker 470kv motor on my first nex e8, and scorpion HKIII 500 on the second one.
Jive 120hv on both.
Rail 606 blades.

1600rpm hovering
2100rpm soft 3D/big sky

First, fligth time with 3400 12s is easy in the 4:30s.

Second, i think 500kv is to much on the nex E8 if you use the jive esc and good 12s lipos
At 2100rpm im at 53% ( calibrated ) with my 500kv.
I prefer to be closer to 65%.

Perphaps if you fly at 2400rpm on the head. But at that rpm the nex is insane. I tried it, not for me..

Just my experince..

Another thing..

Even with light 3400 12s ( 980g ), the nex has CoG problem.
I hade to add 20g lead to the tail fin ti get the CoG spot on.
With 3800 12s it will be whery nose heavy..
