My Favorite HeliI had and have flown three Bell 212's. This was my favorite helicopter. The engine set up and installation would a make conversion to any other engine very time consuming regardless of its fuel type. The cooling fan and engine integration along with proximity to the nose was fairly tight. Adaptation to the drive train with the clutch was unique to that model. This is the tough one.
The windows are simple. Scale the windows off the plan and make an acetate plastic template that can be used to draw on a base painted surface. Erasures of mis-positioned attempts can be handled with a pencil eraser. The front wind shield can be guided from the shape of the body. After that an auto body fine line masking tape 3mm wide can be easily applied around and on your pencil line. Mask the remaining area and paint. I used, with a nice appearance, a medium dark silver paint. Look at a color wheel to get a complementing color choice that will go with your body paint color. I also made one model with thin plastic appliqués with the glass area prepainted. This was a high maintenance thing because of thermal differences while outdoors in the heat. Have fun and enjoy you wonderful model. Dave George AMA 5129 RW 2500
