T-Rex 450 GY401 tail wag DX7
Hello, I recently replaced my old Align Gyro with a Gy401 after a crash that ruined it. This is my first GY401. I set it up according to Finless Bob's video. I am using a DX7 trans and Hitec HS 65 tail servo. Servo is set on analog and when i make a move on the tail the tail rotor moves on the correct direction. It is set up on the gear switch like he suggested. The problem is that the tail wags everywhere from 51 on up. At the lower settings the wag is slower and bigger and the higher up it get smaller and much faster. I am pulling my hair out on this!!!! Help!!!! Any suggestions would be awesome! Thank you!

You may have to run some delay on the gyro with that servo.
That servo isn't really designed for that and probably can't respond to the gyro's inputs fast enough so tail isn't happy and you may need to run delay on that gyro to compensate for that. If you were to look on here and pick up a used tail servo like a FUT9650 or 9257 better yet, or a JR3400 or a 3500 better yet, or an Align 520 you would be better off and happy and you don't need to run any delay with these servos. They are all pretty fast responding and made for this purpose.

One more thing to try you may have to move your ball either in or out on the servo arm with what you have now to get it to work right. Try these suggestions first. My best guess is you may need to go out on the ball as it may need more throw to compensate for the slower responce of that servo. The servo is hunting when you back it right down on the gain as it can't quite keep up with the gyro's commands. Usually it won't do it when you go down just when you go up to high on the gain.
Oh No Someone Please Stop Me Before I Go Broke With This Heli Thing!!

I was kind of wondering about that servo speed. I appreciate the help and will replace it this weekend!
