Motor quitting in inverted ... Fuel line is ok.
My engine is quitting while inverted. But my fuel line is just the exact right size and all looks good, no looks. Actually anytime I am pulling a long streak of revving engine, I think it quits. I ha to freakin inverted auto, when I can barely do a good right side up auto. I mean comeon!! I am not lean I think, at landing my temp readings are 180-190F...

Confusion!!! I donno what's happening! Please help me!

I am so confused. The fuel line is exactly the manual's length and flops around when needed.

It actually quit while flying into the wind, the engine was over revving .. And it quit for a second, and then it started up again all by itself. I donno what the heck happened there. I have full compression.

Was proud of myself For pulling an inverted auto though...

The clunk needs to just hit the sides of your tank as to allow it to move freely as well as be in "touch" of the fuel all the time.
If the fuelline(inside your tank) is too thick it will move but will never hit the walls as it is too sturdy/stiff.

Sound like your engine is to rich. what are your needle settings, also check your plug, change it out and try it again.Old pilots never die they just fade away

Your fuel line is probably _not_ ok . You're describing classic fuel starvation, so I'd troubleshoot it as a fuel starvation issue.

If the klunk is moving around inside the tank the way it should, start looking for leaks in the lines. Pinholes, little splits where they're attached to fittings, etc. You should be able to pressurize the tank and it should hold the pressure basically indefinitely.

After that, look for air leaks in the carb - is the fuel fitting properly seated, etc....

that would be where I'd start.

I just recovered my engine from a massive leak.. I was running not the right amount of washers and all, making fuel to leak from my carb.

Also then, the fuel tubing was a problem. Then a third hole on my fuel tank stopper. OHHH the horror.. but that was all before. I burnt an engine with that, and now after a rebuild I am back.. LOL.. or sort a..

I rechecked everything, I will be ok replacing all tubing just in case. I mean cheap insurance... but I am pretty sure my pipes were ok..

Now the engine is running mp5 50 muffler. I am getting a bit confused in tuning this. i started out 1.5 turns.. now I am around 1 turn plus a couple clicks. Still getting a lot of smoke. on 15percent cool power. my temperature after landing on an idling engine was 190 after flying around.

I did do another inverted flight right after it quit on me on this flight, this time no quitting, seemed like it was stressed engine though..

But, this time, i was right side when the engine stopped for a couple seconds, but then fired up again. that was wierd.. and interesting.. just updating y'all with everything.. let me know!

what about installing one of those foam coverd clunks that soaks up the fuel.

i dont 3d or anything but in collective pops back to back i can see my clunk come out the fuel for second. motor doesnt seem to notice but i still plan to get the foam clunks that soak up the fuel and still provide the needed fule even when the clunk comes out of the fuel for split second

Those are BAD!!! Please don't get that! Rather get a os bubble less clunk.

Those foam ones do the job but are extremely high Maintanence.. You miss ONCE and they are dead. Please don't... Lol ..

You have to remember to refuel the tank everytime immediately after flight. If they come in contact with any gases, the wither and die, or worse kill your engine with foamie residues going into it after the foam dies..

My opinion.. Strong.. But my opinion..

Sounds like the clunk is hanging in the tank, again. Make sure the tubing is flexible enough so it will follow the fuel.Chris

Do you run crank case pressure or muffler pressure? They won't last long with muffler pressure. I've used them in all my helis using crankcase pressure for more than a season. But I agree with using the os clunk. No need to switch out foam or what ever it is that they use and less chance of damaging the seal on the tank.

ok y'all were right. I had clunk line issues. i changed to rotor rage fuel which smokes more, and yes inverted I was loosing smoke, going lean. It quit once again. But wasnt as bad. I auto-ed it again.

Now I am just waiting to put an OS bubbleless clunk and more flexible clunk line. and thats it. I think.. it should be good.

HOW NECESSARY IS GOVERNER????? SOMETHING I CAN LIVE WITHOUT, i dont eve know tic tocs yet... any ideas?

Can you live without it? Yes. I managed without a gov for a few years with only curves and mixes. If you're already going inverted, then you should at least have something. Either a gov or cyclic-throttle program mixing. Both work, and if set up properly, it should be almost impossible to tell whether you're running a gov or not.
If you're banging the cyclic hard to roll it over (you tend to bang it even harder when you're nervous), then you need something to tell the engine to give it more juice as you load the head.
