Hello,
I bought another futaba gy 401 gyro being well pleased with the first for 3 years.
BUT, the new one does not center the servo after toggling quickly left and right the yaw stick in HH mode?
My other does this as stated in specs !
The "new one" also seems slower?
After CAREFUL visual inspection they seem the same?
Has anyone seen counterfit fut gy401 gyro or know what I can do to make this one work the same as the other?
Any way to prove or disprove authenticity?
Any info much appreciated!
David

The real 401 has all gold servo pins, not silver.

are u trying this gyro out on the same model in the radio? maybe the slower is because the gain isnt as high? and in HH im pretty sure it shouldnt center anyway. but yes there are fakes out there. post up some pics

I don't ever remembering using the left to right yaw working to center the servo on my 401's... I always flipped into normal mode and back to HH to center it.

Andrew, the GY401 has always centered that way. 3 quick flicks of the stick while in HH mode will always center it. All Futaba gyros do that. Even the 401.

The genuine ones have tri screws holding the back on, the fake ones use philips ( X )screws, also the genuine wiring is shinny the fake wiring is dull.

HUGE THANX FOR INFO!
Hello,
You guys are the best!
Yes as I thought my first futaba gy 401 gyro bought around three years ago is real, but the new one is F..... FAKE!
I purchased it online ebay BUT from USA hobby shop!
Now I know why it does not "auto center in HH with yaw toggle!
And as I posted When I changed out the OLD REAL with the NEW FAKE it seemed slower with exact same tx settings!

I have a 30 size with real 9254 that I do only upright scale type flying except for some slow funnels and lots of backwards.

I start to do controlled flips, rolls, loops and inv hover.
It is a 450 with real 9257.

Shall I risk the fake gy 401 in either?
If so which would you recommend?
Does anyone know how the fakes hold up and compare in performance?

Now for the first time I am afraid to have gyro failure!!

Thank you again for such great info!!!

See if you can send it back and get a real one, since you didn't buy it with fake money.

THE PLOT THICKENS ALOT!
Open up my fake futaba gyro 401 to find a large nut for weight!!
For sure is a cheap rip off.
I will not use this and am attacking company who sold me this online via ebay.
At least I did not crash doing 3d with it.

WOW do I feel ripped off!!

Again thanx for info so I avoided crash!!

In the works.....
Hello,
I may be out of line
but to see pictures of what I found inside fake gy 401 go to rcgroups search fake gyro futaba 401, my digi camera is on the blink or I would gladly post photo.
BUT FOR REAL;
a large nut is hot glued between 2 pc boards, I assume to add weight because A cheap piezo (sp) gyro is so light?
As I live in europe I had this sent to my mother in the usa and she sent it to me, this was months ago, but I have contacted ebay and paypal to see what if anything can be done.

AGAIN,

HUGE THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO INFORMED ME ON HOW TO TELL FAKE COPY!
IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE TO TOTAL HELI BECAUSE OF RIP OFF GYRO!
I will keep all informed.

Again, at what company was it bought? Please share this info to prevent others from making the same mistake.

And remember: If the price seems to good to be true, IT IS too good to be true.

If they charged you with the normal price, well, your mother could charge this company with fraud/ripp off I imagine.

Greetz,

Marc

I am trying!
Hello,
As I said I ordered this many months ago.
I just now got off my ebay page looking for the record of this buy.
I need to be sure of what shop I got this from and have sent them an email, if indeed it was them?
