Yes, I agree. But also in the utopian situation where the overseas production has the same qualities (in all the terms presented) of a local production. Also in this situation a company isn't contributing to the gross domestic product of its country. And this the reason for which all the western country (including the USA) present an highly unbalanced relationship between imports and exports and a lot of local unemployment.

We think to pay less our toys but probably we are really spending much more.

Justin,
We are in violent agreement. But we can't assume since it's built in China that it's evil. The picture your painting is far from reality. Having spent a great deal of time overseas at various factories, I can say with certainty that they are state of the art, have strict regulations, and treat their employees well (this was a factory building electronics equipment). In fact when I was on the line we were comparing iPhone apps and talking about cars (this was a Shanghai plant.) A far cry from your stereotype of an 11 year old eating a bowl of rice.

Are there bad factories violating regulations overseas? Sure. What about bad factories in the US? Sure. So both good and evil exist everywhere.

Best to act on facts, not some fictional propaganda. Most companies won't tangle with the bad guys since if they're found out it can easily destroy their brand. Wasn't there some awful "The Gap" shakedown years ago that really tarnished their reputation?

Hmmm...

I read a couple weeks ago about how 150 workers at the Foxcomm plant in China threatened to commit suicide to protest their working conditions. (this is a supplier of Apple components).

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...nn-factory.html

If working conditions in far east are as rosy as you say they are, then why are these people willing to commit suicide to protest it?

Ironically enough, the Foxcomm factory installed a net so that people who did decide to jump from the roof of the building would not die.

And if things are so great in the far east, why do they do this kind of thing?

OK, so Foxconn might be an internment camp. Jabil Inc, Shanghai isn't (dunno about their sites in the rest of the world). Along with many other places I've visited there. You hear about a few bad places. Strange how all the good places don't make it into the news. Somehow you've taken this news item and generalized it against half the human population on the planet? Seems like quite a stretch. One bad place doesn't mean the entire country is bad.

Is SAB using a Jabil or a Foxconn? Don't know. But I can't see how you can rationally condemn any business that manufacturers goods there without direct knowledge of a specific problem of human abuse or bad practices. Your view of the world through YouTube only shows you newsworthy items, and almost never provides a real world view of the entire picture. Take a vacation to Asia and experience life there first hand. It's a pretty interesting place that is shockingly westernized in many areas.

All I ask is that you take a step back and stop generalizing. Base decisions on fact, not extrapolation, or stereotypes.

It's true there's good and bad everywhere but it's amazing how much can be missed if you aren't looking. Many there do quite well indeed....at the expense of others (same most everywhere really).
From many things I have seen, the economic warfare being waged in China is taking a horrific toll on their people....who, of course, are paying for it.

Holy crud...what did they say, 18 suicides at this factory last year? If my Company had that rate of cut fingers, there would be a federal investigation.

BobOD, according to an expose done on the Wal-Mart factories in China , most of the suicides stem from workers missing their families back in the agrarian villages from where they came. The typical factory worker in China lives a much higher standard of living than their farming counterparts, but they lose the connectedness of the family/village life.

Funny you mention Foxconn

http://micgadget.com/21420/thousand...s-in-zhengzhou/

The issue at hand has nothing to do with where the parts are coming from. It mostly stems from SAB lying about or completely dodging the issue of where parts are manufactured every time the issue is brought up. The marketing surrounding this heli and brand make believe that everything is coming from Italy.

The more I learn about the Far East, the more I am seeking out the "Made in the USA" on things that I am buying. Look at this news report on an execution/organ harvesting vans that they now have in China:

Watch at YouTube

The issue with the SAB Goblin is that they pretend like they are manufacturing the entire helicopter in Italy, when (if rumors are true), the entire helicopter including the blades is being manufactured in the exact same building as the Outrage brand of helicopters in Vietnam.

The problem is that SAB knows that we in the West (with our economies in recession) feel guilty about always sending our money to the Far East countries, and so SAB wants us to feel like we are helping to make the world a better place by buying an "Italian" helicopter (thinking we will be helping some italian machinist at the SAB factory to send his children to college). Even in the ads, you see the helicopter placed alongside a Lamborghini indicating that it is built in Milan right across the street from the Lamborghini factory. But this is not the case, and that is why there are so many threads on the subject in the forums.

If SAB wants to make the helicopter at the Outrage factory in Vietnam to save costs, fine. But please, SAB, be honest about it. And then publish some pictures of the happy workers at the factory. That way we can sleep well at night knowing that although we are not supporting our own workers, we are at least sending our money to a nice place.

Justin, Have you ever been to Italy? I'm not knocking Italy, but why don't you go ask the family of Amanda Knox if Italy is a "nice place."

I've been there. I've met some of the nicest and rudest people in Italy. What I'm getting at is that you can't judge all people whether they are Asian, American (North, South or Central) or European from some stupid propaganda laced internet or other type of biased "news" item.

You couldnt be more wrong rexxi, with due respect dude, you dont get unbiased news in the US.

Fox for example, have a ploicy that they own the news, so they can report it how they like. The other stations have picked up this model and run with it.

Sky news is Aussie and New Zealand based. There are very much stricter rules for news reporting here. BS like you guys are subjected to on CNN and Fox are comical over here, they are entertainment, not news as it used to be known.

Unfortunately that report is prolly one of the few unbiased reports you will see on such a topic

It is a shame that it has the first 30 seconds editedorialized by someone with a hachet in hand. Ignore the two graphics at the start, thats someones idea of a hachett job. Pretty thinly veiled at that.

I dont really care what you beleive either way sall good baby.

Just bear in mind some places in the world have much stricter rules, and just incase your wondering, Rupert Murdoch is no more an Aussie than Chuck Norris. That creep turns my guts, so does his hateful dread filled news. Its profitable, cause for some reason peeps like to be scared

No, I have not been to Italy. And considering it is a place were Silvio Berlusconi as Italian Prime Minister was permitted to spend taxpayer money to pay for underage prostitutes makes me think twice about promoting it as the epitome of egalitarianism.

...but when I see in the video that I posted earlier where in China a little girl is run over by a van and then people walk by her ailing body for over 10 minutes not doing a damn thing about it...it makes me want to puke.

Something tells me that even though Italy may have an incredibly corrupt government which has put their country on the brink of insolvency, that if a little kid was hit by a car--someone would call for help immediately.

If I had to choose between buying a helicopter from a manufacturer located in a country where young criminals are executed for nonviolent crimes like tax evasion and then their organs are harvested in roving vans to be sold to rich members of the ruling party...or buying a helicopter from a manufacturer located in a country where the 76 year old president has sex parties with 16 year olds...I would probably choose to buy from the later.

The unfortunate thing is that as it stands right now, the only helicopter which seems to be actually manufactured in Italy (and which the purchase of would send some machinist's kid to college) is the MSH Protos. And I am certainly not in the market for another 500 sized helicopter.

Heliguychris, you offend me sir! Rupert Murdoch is the epitome of a fine, upstanding capitalist. Fox news is "fair and balanced!"

J/K, I've long ago stopped believing in the trustworthiness of news from any country. News is biased, no matter where it comes from. Even when news agencies think they are reporting the truth or facts, they are mostly being played by the powers in government who feed the news misinformation.

In addition to travelling to many countries, I've had the opportunity to go to school with, as well as work with as colleagues and as employer to people from many parts of the world. All governments feed their people BS.

What's the old saying, "believe half what you see and none of what you here." Nowadays with video technology, I doubt you could believe half what you see either. Some days I almost do think we are all just the batteries of the Matrix living in a dream world!

Back to serious stuff, I'll let you all know how I like my Goblin soon enough.

Justin thats some drama there for sure. But I don't understand why it is a suprise? Everyone wants to hate the Germans for over 5 decades ago, when in fact their are larger criminals in the world today. Some see what USA has done in the middle east as evil and bullying to, so really who is anyone to say or know what is really decided and done behind closed doors? Is that what I believe for the record no, but ya know conspiracy theories and all that, to no end some will say the 911 attacks were planned by the US themselves, true? Doubt it but still you get the point....

As far as what happens in China or any other country that wants to kill each other, let em do it, same in sand land, they been doing it for years and when you go in and be a referee or want to see it change, it will....till your gone at least. I guess my final answer is let anyone overseas kill each other all they want, I dont give a rat$ a$$ and if I was there I would not know any different anyhow, harsh but hey oh well.

Now the heli to be back on topic, it'll be interesting to see your folks builds.

Since there is no helicopter out yet to talk about, and since we're diverging from the topic anyways (probably mostly my fault), you guys have to check out this short movie. (Sorry, but I couldn't embed it in RR since it's Vimeo and not YouTube). It's about WWII airplanes and I am pretty sure you all will enjoy it.
