I know it's been asked before but has anyone herd anything about the next update for Phoenix. I figured with the latest release of real flight we may have had something soon. I havent even had a model update in some time.

Maybe no more are coming for this version. Someone mentioned piracy being the reason. I have purchased 2 copies myself and another one I bought for a family member as a gift.

I think most heli guys are stand up guys/gals and have purchased a legit copy.

It would be nice to see an announcement of a new version coming soon maybe.

I would think piracy should not be a problem as the dongle to make it work is contained in the cord that comes with it. Of course I guess anyone smart enough to make a dongle would have a no problem.

People have been able to bypass the security in the dongle for a few years now. You can even buy Chinese dongle clones on eBay for less than $15, like the one the wickedclown boasted about on eBay which contains full versions of RealFlight, Reflex and Phoenix. The guys at Run Time Games can't work for free, you know.
If and when Phoenix releases a v4 software, it will come with different DRM than what you see in their current dongle.

The Nuremberg Toy Fair is this week. Maybe we'll see something there.
http://nurembergtoyfair.com/
So I emailed them and got this response:

"There will be an announcement regarding the next version of Phoenix at the Nuremburg Toy Fair at the beginning of February this year.

Best Regards

Phoenix Support"

So just be patient. Only 3 weeks away.

The reason Phoenix has offered just 1 new model in about 6 months is because of jerks like this guy who support software piracy and boast about it.

You're sure about this? So I'm going to have to buy a new Dongle to keep up with the latest release from Phoenix? That sucks. I wrapped my current Phoenix dongle (along with a simstick and receiver) into a little box that I can put behind my computer. Works pretty well. But I hate to have to do it all over again for a new dongle.

No, I'm not sure about it, but it's an educated guess. It's based on speculation only.
Run Time Games would be pretty foolish to release a new simulator that can be distributed on the internet for free on the internet from day one.

Oh. I see what you're saying. Yeah, that is a pretty good educated guess.

But when it comes to Phoenix V3 (version R or S or whatever we're on), I'm not sure it really requires too many more upgrades. People can create their own models and their own sceneries pretty easily for Phoenix. The physics of Phoenix is fairly good. So really, what more upgrades do we need? Seems like a pretty finished product (in my opinion).

I would like to have the choice of more customer created models like with realflight.
I was able to download a plank that I had just made, and paint it just like my real plane. Makes flying in the sim alot more fun and realistic.

You Sir are probably right on the mark with this!

I have bought thousands of dollars to full version software such as Adobe Photoshop (started with Photoshop 7, and bought every upgrade thru currently CS5) and Lightroom (started again with the first version and I'm currently using Lightroom 3.6 64 bit), not to mention many other full versions of computer and photography related software.

Funny how people don't think twice about ripping off a software company, but have a fit if their shorted $5.00 on a pay check, or get stiffed by someone in their daily lives.

Sure feels different when the shoes on the other foot….

The upgrade from 2.0 to 2.5 was free, and the upgrade from 2.5 to 3.0 was free. So maybe we'll get lucky and this upgrade will be free as well?

I just hate dark windows style and the fact they removed the 12FG radio for the CRAP Spektrum one.
