Hello everyone.

Since some time ago I decided fly VELOCITY 90 ASSW, before flying TREX 700.

I clarify that I fly helicopters for 4 or 5 years.

The problem is that I found basically 4 serious problems in this helicopter.

1. loosen the screws in full flight... no matter if you use locktite

2. There is a GAP in the head I have not been able to fix or with shims

3. electronic tray on the front, the material plastic with which this manufactured is BAD quality, very brittle breaks only in full flight have changed 2 times this piece because it breaks one... so I decided manufacture me in MDF and epoxy

4. the main gear manufactured in material of lousy quality breaks in flight have broken when less 4 gears without reason in mid-air.

Outrage has an excellent service and congratulate you all are very kind helicopter I like very much believe that it is very good design, but the problem is that in some parts are using very poor quality material that hopefully the manufacturer decides to improve as I leave some photos....

Unfortunately, Outrage has real issues with some of the parts in the models they released in the last 18 months or so. That is, the Velocity 90, the Velocity 50 N2, and the Fusion 50. QA is also a problem at times. Pity. These machines fly really well.

I had high hopes for the Velo 90. Mine flew really nicely but it just wouldn't stay together. In the first six flights, 4 ended in a crash. My issues were with tail drive gears, the torque tube ends coming loose (or the screws holding them in shearing) and, finally, the tail transfer bellcrank mount falling apart. I have built over 40 helis and never had such difficulties with a model. It's a real shame because it flew tremendously well and I like the design but quality of materials and manufacturing seems weak

1helimech: Hang on a second! There are tips and tricks associated with nearly all of these problems that most people arent addressing and cant be fixed. The Fusion 50 had gear issues. Im running a 700mx motor in mine and do very very hard stops with it and never strip gears, and Im still running the stock white gears. There was a fix to that and the TT gears.

The Velo 90 for the TT issue... and this goes for every model. You put head shrink over the screws that hold the ends into the TT. If these come loose, they will break because of harsh loads being applied constantly! (jackhammer effect)

Use plenty of locite. You can never use "too much" loctite on any screw.

Main gear stripping issues.... Proper meshing. Even though its a nitro and gets plenty of oil around the main gear, try some grease. This is one reason why my Fusion 50 gears DONT strip ever.

Anything falling apart... im sure its because of not enough loctite. Slobber that screw up with loctite. Dont be afraid to use it. Its your best friend. Besides, anything you dont normally take apart on the heli, whether its from a crash or regular maintenance, red loctite (such as balls on swash plate, grip arms, etc)

Too much loctite can be as bad as no loctite.

I can say from personal experience that not all problems with the Outrage helicopters are due to the user not using loctite or setting the mesh incorrectly. Outrage has skimped on production costs and testing in the last 2 years. Pity. Their helicopters fly really well when the parts fit together as they should.

Yes you are correct. Although I haven't had any issues with mine. Their quality of the helis is pretty top notch. Frames are like glass gloss finish! Just looking at simple ways to fix certain things that could fail, such as gear backlash in the TT, can be fixed so no more stripping issues. Maybe you ended up with a "Friday" kit as I would call it

Sometimes you have to ignore what you read and see for yourself. All heli's have issues or problems that some people will experience and some won't. If I had listened to what the "popular" opinion was, I would have never bought my predator years ago which was always referred to as a machine that was not a good 3d machine, but I ended up flying the crap out of it and was quite reliable for many years and could fly 3d with it and it would take whatever I threw at it.

Same goes for my velo 90. When I initially got it 2nd hand last summer, it was pretty much an original release kit with almost none of the current revision parts on it (yes, still the original tail gears and 2 piece motor mount), and aside from stripping 1 main gear in flight, has been a joy to own and quite reliable. I really hate those "which heli is best" threads cause most opinions are purely from people who follow the herd.....

I'm not here to say you won't have problems with a velo90, but I wouldn't blame it on the "quality" of the machine.

I have mine in hand now and I'm working on seting it up, changing from FB to FBL it is also a secound hand heli. In my eyes it's a work of art !!! And as I,m no hot shot 3D pilot I'm sure it will fill my requirments vary vary well. still have to learn the futaba 12fp and the cgy 750 to get it into the air though I do thank all for thier input.

I have a fusion 50 and really really like it. It does everything I ask it to and hasn't let me down. It went together with no problems at all and I still have all white gears. I dunno what some people are doing to their heli but I'm getting a little tired of reading about everyone bashing their Outrage model. I happen to think the are of good quality and fly great. Maybe it's just me but I just don't get it.
