Got this on behalf of a friend,i dont have experience with this combination so open to suggestions,he has a Redline 53 engine and wants to put on a Zimmermann muffler, are there any complications with the two matching, being a 53 high performance motor and a 50 size exhaust, the other question is,whats the difference in the two Zimmerman mufflers as one outlet goes straight out the back, and the other outlet has a angle at the back, many thanx

I've found the RL 53 makes the best power with the RL HighFlow pipe. Powerful combination!

Roll your eyes for giving my opinion? You asked for an opinion and I've tried them all, which is why I said "I've found it to make the best power with matching pipe."

When I first got my 53 I had an Align .50 pipe on it. Couldn't tune it to save my life. It would sound ok for a bit but then go lean. If I richen'd it up it had no power. Threw the JK Hatori on it and it flew spectacularly. No it's not the Zimmerman, point is it was really needed to be able to breath and the .50 sized pipe was too constructive. My two cents.

Uh..., yea..., I meant to do that.

dude hanostly the zimmerman will "probaly" work. atlest the bolt patterns. Ive had the redline engines there very very picky on the pipes and as said above get the high-flow. I tried a mp5 on it wouldnt tune good low power and then the high flow it was right on the needles

Ok thanx for the info guys,i think the Zimmerman and redline are not going to be a good combo,he had the high flow pipe on it and he just could not find the sweet spot, his only using 10% nitro,is there a 3rd needle hidden away somewhere thats spoiling things perhaps

Why not give it a go? You can't lose by trying it. I have a Zimmermann paired with an OS .50 Hyper (not your combination) and it runs very well.

I'm not sure what the difference is (if any) with the exhaust outlets.

Redline53, 30% nitro with the extra head shims and the high flow pipe. There is a mid needle behind the throttle arm. You have to remove it to get to it. We have the best results with 30% though, if you run 30 and depending on your elevation be sure to use the extra head shims.

Thanx Jeff, does that needle do the mid range only, how many shims does he need if he uses 20%,he is only using 10% at the moment with one shim.No 3d flying only a sport flyer.

The mid is very sensitive. I would try your best to do your adjusting through the high and low needles. You should be able to get away without any extra shims with 20%. If it is power that you are lacking I would go with the 30%, but thats if your internals are mechanically sound ie;piston, ring and sleeve.
