I agree 100%, it is an easy fix. But the end user should not have to fix an item that is poorly designed. Just my .02

No. I don't have this kit. Jockobadger pointed this issue out to me when he was building his UH1N. I have had similar issues with RCA kits in the past.

Barry's right. I had the same issue re: bearing blocks and spacers (i.e. 47mm vs. 54mm - I think that was it!) While I like the Huey kit just fine, I think it would be advisable for RCA to deal with these things prior to going to market. In RCA's defense, there were spacers in the kit (small rectangular cf blocks) that I didn't realize were intended to be used with the short frame spacers. I ended up using 3.5mm delrin nuts and that worked fine. Otherwise, the Chaos mechs and fuselage went together very nicely. I'll post a pic or two of them in just a minute. Thanks, Jocko

Here are three pics of the RCA UH-1N fuselage and the test mechs that I set up. You can see the TT and TR riser. The scale-ish head is on the fuse, but I'll mount it on the test bed before flight tomorrow. The head has 700 blades on it and there is plenty of clearance between them and the 105mm tail blades (> 10cm.) Also, you can see the built-in dihedral on the blades.

when you use the chaos mechanics you need the spacers, if you use the align no spacers are needed. My kit did not have the spacers in it so I used washers. this is a minor issue that is easy to fix. This setup is by far a better system than the belt or cable drive that I have used in the past. I am not complaining about the system just letting everone know to pay attention when installing the bearing blocks so that you dont have a tr drive failure.

Would the newest trex 600 EFl work with the tiger or UH-1N fuselage? Also how do you access the batteries in these fuselages? Is there any removable hatch?

Not sure about align machine. If the tt drive, bearing blocks, motor mount and frame spacers are the same it should work. I used the chaos and had to use washers for spacers. I have 4 flights on mechanics so far. I will use 2 5s 5000 packs and they fit under the cockpit. Installing the 3 bladed tail tonight.

Thanks for the pics of the hatch! I'm thinking about using the chaos 600 flybarless kit instead of the trex. Are chaos mechanics as good as align for scale flying?

I have 4 sets of chaos mechanics for my scale machines an I like them better than the align. I like the extra frame width. I put the last test flight on the mechanics for the tiger and as soon as I finish the fuselage I will install them and get some flying video.

It only available painted. The Tiger not aluminum it is composit so there is not a lot of rivits in it. The fuselage has a lot of details molded into it like panels and doors.

if you are picky like i am about landing gear, you will end up wanting to change or modify it, but it does the job and is spring loaded. i do think the tail wheel should also be spring loaded and able to castor. it made for a little work making ground taxiing look nice.
great job on the paint Donnie, that turned out real nice.

I only got one 7 minute flight so far but it felt solid. The gear is close to scale if you compare it to the pictures on airliners.net. The tail wheel does not caster after a few more flights if I think it needs to I will see what it will take to modify it.
