I was wondering what to use to monitor rx and ignition battery voltages? I was thinking of using crickets? What are you folks using?

used Aligns regulator, I used it cause I had a spare from the Trex600esp, plus it had a switch and LEDs...Its not efficient though (linear reg) and wastes power by disipating it as heat, it would eat up my 2S 1800ma in two flights for the RX only, just changed it out to a CC switching reg (10A and very small, efficient, plus it takes anything from 2S to 6S) but it does not have a built in switch and Volt monitor...so I have to add that onto the heli.

For what it's worth those CC 10 amp regulators are not 10 amps. Someone tipped me off that CC had a notice on their site. I had a crash with a 500 heli close in, lost control and found out it was the regulator. I've since bought their pro regulator for a Bell 47 I'm converting to electric.

I've been using volt-watch on mine. One for the RX and on for the EI module.

yes the CC reg is rated for 10A peak, or as they state it on thier website as 5A continuos. I have gauged mine and since I use standard heli servos the draw on the reg was 4A...I just can't afford the really superfast nice 7.4V servos...not yet anyway.

but your right, any High performance servos (like for FBL and high speed tail servo) would put it over the 5A mark (more like 8A average), this is why its important to read the fine print .

I have a GY701 i'm trying out now (to replace the GY401 and GV-1) so the CC 10A unit is running at nearly max (4-5A) all the time, so its gonna have to go and be replaced with the CC 20A unit...

the EI module still uses a seperate CC 10A unit since at peak it only pulls 2.5 amps. At max RPM on G20ei the EI unit pulls about 2.3A on average, the "upgrade" RCexcel unit pulls less than this (so I'm told) and even weighs less, its also on the list of changes....

I bought two LiFe 2000 mah batteries to take care of my rx and ignition needs. Seemed like a good way to go to eliminate the use of a regulator.
I bought the excel unit also. I hope it's reliable. I thought I read of failures with that unit.
