Anyone know if any other brands hex adapter fit the Vision 90c starter? The ElyQ one is way too soft. I'm on my third one already. Just stripped the second a bit earlier.

I use an Align starter so the starter shaft is threaded onto the starter.

I bought the starter new when I bought this heli. The hex on the shaft still has sharp edges. Definitely not worn or rounded.

Starter coupler
The align wand is very hard on couplers. The Sullivan starter wand is a lot smoother IMO.

also heard the align wand has very soft metal and gets rounded out easy which could be causing the stripping due to its not getting the right contact

On one of my starter wands I cut off the rounded hex and welded a one inch piece of 6mm hex wrench to the end of the starter shaft. It works great. Puts a lot more material in contact with the hex adapter on the heli itself.
I know it isn't rounded and not quite as easy to remove but it works.

On my 4th hex....decided to ditch the align starter. It seems to have a "ratchet" effect (doesn't turn the engine smoothly, very rough) and I suspect that's where some of my issues are coming in. Instead of turning smoothly it "rachets" around banging on the hex grooves. No problem with my smaller nitro but with my 90 it works a lot harder and I think this "ratcheting" is what's stripping my hex adapters. Going to use a Dynatron with the Sullivan starter wand, and Makita 18v battery adapter. Hopefully this will do the trick.

Align Starter
I cringe when i forget my starter and have to borrow another persons. Which is always the Align starter. The want on that thing destroys starter couplers. It is not just ElyQ, I have destroyed them in both a T-rex 600 and 700. Just my 2 cents. Do what the others say and get a different wand. I use and have used for 3 years one of the 20 starters from Tower. I run it on 6s Lipos. It cranks a 90 in seconds. However, If you have a compression lock, it will ark weld the starter button making you starter unable to shut off without unplugging the batteries. one of these days, I will install a heavy duty switch or maybe even some heavy duty relays inside the case.

Thanks Jamie...I did go with what I mentioned a couple of posts up. I bought I Dynatron starter and use the Sullivan Helicopter wand with Makita battery adapter. It turns the 90 with no problems. Much, much better set up than the Align starter. The Align starter is much more convenient to carry around because of how it breaks down, but that's the only edge it has over the Dynatron.
