Went to Readyheli site this morning at 5:15 to see the status of the Xxtreme and it is not there! I clicked on the 800 Logo several times and got nothing, Has anyone else had a problem? What happened?

Oh, I see, because they aren't selling the kit alone, but with motor ESC, ect., they put it under the "combo" heading instead. We might not see it under "Logo 800" until they decide to sell it in the kit only form.

What's the max HS they're recommending? The lowest gear ratio is 10.29. That's why it requires such a low KV motor. The low KV motors need a lot more torque in order to compensate for the low motor speed, however the higher voltage helps...Torque X RPM = Power
I guess I don't like the idea of having to buy a "special wind" motor, because I really like options...
This heli is big and fairly heavy with a high load gear train, so I understand why they don't offer a pinion size less than 17T.

A: I don't know what Mikado will post as a max recommended head speed. All I can say is that the head and gear train can handle anything that can still give you 3 minutes of flight time.

Kyle beat on the model @ 2000 (which is 'smokin' for a 800), and the only limitation you suffer by doing this is short flight times. See the vid:

Kyle competed and demo'd the model all of 2011 using 1800-1850. It sport flies real nice at 1500 for 8-10 minute flights, depending on what you're doing.

Hi Dave, thanks for the response. Yes, I know 2000 HS is screamin' as I had 813's on a Stretch 700 @ 1900, and that seemed awfully fast for that big rotor disc, and your right, it drains the batts pretty fast, esp. if you fly very hard. The one thing that concerns me is they put a nice large main gear, but only offer a 17T pinion for the smallest, which limits gear ratios and disallows the use of higher (or more standard) KV motors. Will they ever be comfortable with offering a 16T or maybe a 15T pinion? That would open thing up some...

Kontronik now offer a 400kV and 480kV Pyro 800 which is not a "special wind" like the Scorpion 5035 380kV that is bundled with the Xxtreme.

I plan on going with the 400kV Pyro 800 and by my calculations, will need the 17T pinion. An obvious down side with the smaller pinion is less teeth contact area on the main gear.

I've just been through this with my Logo 400 using the Mod 0.7 138T main and a 12T pinion. This was down from the 17T pinion but because I'm still using my Mini Pyro 1400kV motor, that's the pinion I need. However, Mikado know this and the 138T gear is about 30% thicker than the 200T to compensate for less teeth on the pinion.
