I have a Trex 450 SE that I need some gyro help with. It has a gy240 and a hitec hs81mg for the rudder servo. In the HH mode the tail wants to spin to the uncontrolably right as the heli is spooling up. I went to LHS, and did some trouble shooting. The gyro and rudder servo seemed to working fine. I am new to the flying heli and completely out of ideas to get this up and flying.

Try reversing the direction on the gyro.

trex 450 se
I beleive the the direction on the gyro and servo are correct. When i give right rudder the servo arm moves forward. I will try reversing it and se what happens.

I reversed the direction on the gyro and it seems to be working great. Thanks for the advise.

In the future, if you built your 450 per the manual, RIGHT rudder stick must make the TR servo pull the TR pushrod forward, toward the nose of the heli. If it goes the other direction, reverse the RUDDER channel in the Transmitter.

Next, pick the heli up, watch the TR servo arm as you turn the nose of the heli to the LEFT. The TR servo must pull the pushrod forward to correct the left turn. If it goes the other way, reverse the GYRO direction at the Gyro.

Both have to be set to move the servo the correct direction or you will have uncontrollable spinning.

Another easier way to check is that the pitch slider must go the opposite way to your stick and for checking gyro sensing direction the pitch slider must move the opposite direction to the direction you move the tail.

A good gyro gain check for the first flight on a new heli is that if the tail reaches full limit before you turn the heli 45 degrees the gain is too high, if you have to turn the heli more than 45 degrees to reach full limit then the gain is too low.

60% of the time, it works every time!
