Call me stupid, but I bought a JR DSMX to replace a JR DSM receiver and can't get it to bind. I am guessing the two receivers are different in compatibility with my JR 9503 transmitter?
What are my options at this point.

Thanks for the education in advance guys.

You can send your transmitter to Horizon and have it upgraded to do DSMX for $75.

Not any transmitter. You can look on their web site and find out which models.

Im not aware of this being an issue. They should be compatible. The DSMX Rx should simply bind in DSM2 mode.Thats the way it is supposed to work anyway.I would call HH and talk to them.May be a problem with the Rx.

DSMX receivers are 100% compatible with DSM2 transmitters. ANY DSMX receiver will work with your 9503.

DSM2 receivers are 100% compatible with DSMX transmitters. ANY DSM2 receiver will work with any DSMX transmitter.

The technology is backward and forward compatible. Save your $75 for the DSMX upgrade unless you plan on flying a lot in extremely crowded RF environments such as IRCHA.

There is no reason your new receiver shouldn't bind and operate just fine with your radio.

Which receiver are you having trouble with? Which one works OK? Are you plugging the bind plug into the correct socket on the new RX as you go to bind?

-----

The one thing you CAN'T do is to mix DSMX and DSM2 satellite receivers and DSMX/DSM2 receivers. If you have a DSMX receiver, it MUST use DSMX satellites. If you have a DSM2 receiver, it MUST use a DSM2 satellites. You can't have DSM2 receivers with DSMX satellites, and vice-versa. Whatever technology the main receiver uses, the satellites must be the same.

As long as you meet that requirement, your TX ought to run any DSM2/DSMX RX fine.

Good point dkshema. After I posted I remembered that I forgot to mention that if it is a DSMX Rx it must have a DSMX remote. That is about the only thing that makes the 2 protocols incompatible.

The protocols are compatible all around, just no mixing of RX types in the same system.

Thanks guys,
I feel like an idiot. I was plugging the bind plug in the wrong battery/data location. When I plugged into the bind location, guess what? it worked LOL.
I appreciate all the valuable feedback plus I found out through you'all that I need a DSMX satelite so all isn't lost on me

Thanks again, now lets fly.....
