The votes are close for Obama's idiotic plan on taking away citizens right to bear arms. Last I read I think it was 5 to 4. I pray this doesn't go through, as it will only hurt the innocent and help the criminals.

If Obama thinks he can take my gun away, let him come and try personally. No one is taking my guns away from me. Obviously he is trying to start his dictatorship by taking away guns so no one can fight back. The man is a horrible president and I can't wait to see his lose this year.

Can you show us that law, the date and its details?

Maybe we can make escobar a Reagan fan.

IF it happens, I GUARANTEE you there will be a 2nd Revolutionary War. I just might have to join those crazy Confederates down south and help 'em secede from the Union. Heck, they got nicer weather and better sweet tea down there anyway!

If Obama thinks he can take my gun away, let him come and try personally, because I will have a 45 with his name on it. No one is taking my guns away from me.
Please be careful, with the mindset of some of the left wingers they can lock you up for threatening the president, even if it is a remark you would never take action on. I understand your feelings, but someone could make an example of you about gun nuts (I am one gun-nut myself).

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

Obviously I am not going to do that, but I am expressing my emotion by stating that. Its sad that someone might actually believe that. I really despise the hardcore left wing people. They are the ones who cause trouble.

I am only bringing this up because I have thought, and or wondered about this quite a bit.
Stop and think about this aspect for just a moment.

Just for the sake of argument, let's suppose a bill was signed into law today that declares ALL guns illegal and they are to be turned in and or confiscated. Keep in mind that those of us who bought our guns legally, they are registered to us and they (the government) know that we have them and they know our address.
So, and this is just hypothetical, how many people are going to die in the frenzy of "you will never take my guns from me"?
How many people are going to try to fight back at the authorities, who are trying to confiscate their guns? What will that cause? A lot of bloodshed.
How many of the police force, or whoever the government assigns the job to are really going to risk their lives trying to take guns away? If it's the military, they are trained for that kind of thing.
Or, how many of said governmental forces are going to say, "No, we are not going to take people's guns away"?
I mean try to think about it.
In a way you would think that if the "police force" who are in charge of coming to your house because you didn't voluntarily bring in your guns were really American minded (for a lack of better terms) they wouldn't take your guns. Because that wouldn't be the American thing to do.
But, if they were some brain-washed liberal minded nut job, they wouldn't mind so much.
I am sure there will be plenty of folks, I know a few personally, who are going to "get outta Dodge" if this were to ever play out.
I don't know, just sharing some thoughts that have been rolling around between my ears.

And for the record I am a FIRM believer in the 2nd Amendment.
I have a carry permit, I carry daily and seriously hope the above scenario never comes to any sort of reality.

I am just throwing this out there to see who else has thought and or wondered something similar.

Just speaking for myself, I don't think we have to worry to much about that.
How many of the police force, or whoever the government assigns the job to are really going to risk their lives trying to take guns away? If it's the military, they are trained for that kind of thing.

Thats the primary reason why. There is not enough authority in the USA to have a mass gun confiscation work. There is not enough people in authority that would support a mass gun confiscation program. There could very well be some isolated incidents across the country. But, they would have no affect except to turn Americans against them.

On another point. I don't beleive our military would act against its own citizens. Not for a minute. That would be so far and against their training, they would turn against their own authority.

Besides, before that went into affect, it would have to get by the Supreme Court. As the SCOTUS stands now, it would never get by them.

Liberty once lost, is lost forever.

Dennis, I was hoping you would reply first.

Your thoughts are very similar to mine honestly. On many things. I don't post much, but I am here everyday reading the posts.

Even though Washington DC and the nut heads who work there seem to have lost all touch with reality, I don't think that even those guys would try something of the sort. I mean really, how could you take all of the guns away? Where would you begin?

I say this because I hear a lot of people saying with great conviction, "they are gonna take our guns away. Man I'm telling you they are gonna get 'em".

I also feel that the military wouldn't turn against us to take our guns away. It's just something that I don't believe would happen.

Anyway, it's food for thought.

There is simply not enough power of authority in America to get that done.

Not even close.

1)
The 2nd amendment would have to be totally repealed.

2)
The Supreme Court would have to rule on it.

The only way I could envision something like that just beginning is if the Dems win another super majority in both the house and senate and the Obummer gets a 2nd term. The chances of all three of those things happening this coming November is very, very slim to zero.

Even if it did, they would have to complete, in their favor, steps 1 & 2 to begin.

Never happen.

This is not Germany. This is not Japan. This is not England. This is not Norway.

Its the USA.

Nuff said.

They would need to search every house top to bottom all at the same time to even come close to confiscating a small percentage of guns. So, if my friends house was already searched, guess where my guns go? Also, none of mine are registered, so how or who knows what I have?

Here you go Dennis.

The Mulford Act was a 1967 California bill prohibiting the public carrying of loaded firearms. Named after assemblyman Don Mulford, the bill garnered national attention after the Black Panthers marched on the California Capitol to protest the bill. The bill was signed by California Governor Ronald Reagan and became California penal code 12031 and 171(c).

He also signed into act some of the Brady bills. Even though he had firearms himself he had no problem denying American citizens the same rights.

Here is another link to a PDF that shows more of what he did.

remember what it takes to repeal a constitutional ammendment.
Not going to happen even if he got the vots in the house and senate. It has to also be ratified by (I believe) a minimum of 38 states. No way that's happening.
If we're going to repeal one, let's look at chunks of the 14th that allows the anchor babies.

This country was founded with guns, funded by alcohol, and built with slaves.

Like it or not, we love our guns, drugs and cheap labor, the numbers don’t lie.
