The heli is the same in many ways. For me the biggest improvement is having the 2 batteries under the mast. With this setup, I load the battery tray as a unit without having to remove the canopy. The trend for many of the companies now is to top mount the motor claiming the higher CG improves rolling maneuvers. My rolls are the same either way, so I can't really say. Some of this conversion is purely for trying it.

Hi Richard,

I am converting a Robbe Milli2 and looking to do a very similar thing regarding the motor placement.

What did you do to extend the motor shaft?

(I am using an Align 700 motor)

Mine will be right about the same place in terms of height and the pinion will be between two bearing blocks.

Trillian,

I don't know much about the Align 700 motor, with the Scorpion 8mm to 6mm shafts, you can order 8mm stock to a certain length. Mine are 150mm long and I turn the end for the 6mm pinion on the lathe. On the Scorpion, removing a few set screws and a circlip allows the shaft to be pressed out using an Arbor Press easily. I was able to order my bearings from Boca Bearings when I needed a 19x6mm to support the end of the shaft near the pinion.

Please post your pictures as you progress..

Hope this helps.
