Hi again gents, anyone thinking of building this frame set should prolly have a look at the instuctional page. Its a pretty serious project requiring fair to middlin skills, by the looks. Im up for the challenge

I would love to, but the cost of the investment would be high to be just for me. I actually have more value in purchasing the Compass 7HV (136T main gear) than this project costing more than the 7HV kit. The 115T Align main gear leaves little options. However, I would LOVE to embark on this project._Sam B_

Suzi Hans and suzi Janis
These 2 conversions are completely different

The suzi Hans does not fit the tdr canopy only the suzi Janis does

The "conversion" is actually a piece of cake

It's not hard at all

Suzi Janis Frames
I was Lucky enough to get 2 more Suzi Janis Frames from Peter as well.

BTW...I used some cut down body mounts out back and just drilled them and tapped them ...it's easy..

Up front you just need to put some spacers that hang off the nose about 30mm ...you can always just cut and file as needed.

I have about 10 TDR canopies so it's nice to be able to use them.

Why wouldn't 610's work ok? I've been running them on my Trex700E for 15 months without issue, including two crashes with no gears broken._Sam B_

Because it probably takes more servo torque when the linkage goes directly from the servo to the swash then through bell cranks...but the 610's may still be fine.

The 610's have more than enough torque even at 6v. At 8.4v they've got crazy amounts.

610's
my only issue with the 610's is the eventual slop...but they work just fine.

I have my 610's all running 8.4 volts so they handle the load without issue

Personally my favorite is still the BLS 451 or Torq 9180's but I have no problem using the Aligns as well

I don't really fly anything but 3d so I'm never really flying straight or smooth either...so a little bit of slop isn't that big a deal for me

Would it be possible to use a Nitro-version as donor? The nitro's are almost for free second hand these days

YES
The Nitro Donor is actually the best route...in fact I just bought a nitro last week and used the parts from that for my latest Janis conversion.

I'm not even sure if the Electric bearing blocks would work....that's pretty much all that's different in the conversion.

the head/tail/main gear assembly are all the same on the nitro and electric...only the bearing blocks are different

The conversion is designed to use the 700 nitro bearing blocks.

Thanks to this post I've finally got the motivation to build this frame set thats been sitting in my garage for months. If it flies anything like the Suzi Hans it'll be replacing I'd say it's a winner.
