So when I put this in my scale heli with retracts, I will be using a seperate jr 9 channel rx. Retracts are usually ch 5! I guess I could do retracts on aux 4. Greg

If you are using a receiver with the supplied interface cable you can plug the tail gain wire into any aux channel you want to use. This will let you keep your retracts on channel 5. The HC will not know the difference.

You also have option to set the tail gain in the software and it will open up channel 5 completely. Same with the head gain. I have found that once I have the right gain, I don't need to mess with it any more, freeing up the channels for other requirements. You still can change the gain, it just requires a laptop.

Got it! I now see that 5 and 7 will adjustboth gains, I thought that was real time tuning, I see now its a different function. Danny, on the page with the travel bars, the bars have a mid point, then befor the end of the box, there is a bar, are the travels supposed to go to the bar, or all the way past the bar and to the end of box? Also, the bar for tail gain and head or horizon gain, are we supposed to adj the travel adj. For those to meet the end too? Wouldn't the travel adjust on those be for gain settings during flight? Greg

The grey line near the end represents 100%. For aileron, elevator, rudder, and collective the travel should go to this line.
Also, the bar for tail gain and head or horizon gain, are we supposed to adj the travel adj.
Use the TX travel end points for these channels to set the gains. The resulting % is displayed with the respective sliders. When using the horizon modes on the HC3-SX you will want to set this for 100%.

I'm sorry I'm such a tool, but here my next question! This is what my diagnose screen, the left aileron is all the way to the end of the bar, I can give right ail input, and change travel adjust to get the blue line to the grey bar, but when I adjust left travel adjust, the blue moves away from center, not away from the left end of bar? Same with all the bars? Do I only adjust the one side? Greg

The end (right side) of the blue bar is what you are setting. It should move to the grey (100%) line on each side of the slider when the TX stick is at max travel and be perfectly centered when the TX stick is neutral (centered).

Use the TX reversing switches so the bar moves the correct direction.

Use the TX sub-trim to center the end of the bar.

Use the TX travel adjust/end point so the end of the bar travels the correct distance.

Thanks danny! I appreciate the great support! So I assume that the same applies to the pitch and elevator.

I just installed a new base unit into a 450 machine. After connecting all the servos and setting the basic programming in the radio I completed the entire setup wizard in 17 minutes. That included switching over a couple of sets of lipos on my chargers, too.

I really like the newest user interface on the software upgrade.

Thanks Danny and Captron!

Good work, Tyler! About three weeks ago, I installed a SX into an old Beam E4 I hadn't used for a couple of years. I didn't time it, but I bet it didn't take 20, maybe 25 mins to do all the set-up via the new and improved interface. Once I figured out how to set the end pts, reversing, etc., in my Tx, and understood how the "bars" work, it is just so quick and easy. I'm still having a blast experimenting with different settings, putting them in different helis, etc. The Beam was a flybarred one - I tried it because I'd seen Bell Bloke's (ECO??) FB'ed heli fly and wanted to experiment. I have a MA Furion 450 FBL head that I'm going to put on the Beam and try that out. I'm also building a 600 AH64 - can't wait to get to flight testing with it - using a SX on "Scale and Hover" to start.

Back to the Beam, I can't believe how well it hovers and floats around in Horiz. mode. Even with the FB, it was a bit skittish - FUN, but skittish. With the SX on it, it flys like a much larger heli. Can't say enough good things about these units.

Yes - Thanks Danny and Joachim for the SUPPORT! That alone is worth its weight.

Just installed on my trex 600 E, with flybar. Just wanting to try out the horizon mode. When static, in heading hold, the tail servo "steps" all the way to the end point, is this normal? Want to test it out in the air today. Also, what is a good starting point for horizon gain? Greg

With the system running go to the Diagnose page and check that the bar on the tail slider is centered when the TX stick is centered. Check this in all flight modes.

It said "0" when I did that page during set up. I did use some trim in the programing (not in tx) for rudder.? Greg
