dx6i / dx8 transfer/trainer question
hello

i have a "old" dx6i that came with a blade 400 combo...

1. can i easily transfer the programming from the dx6 to the dx8 to fly the balde with my dx8?

2. how can i bind (?) the dx8 with the receiver that's in the blade?

3. how can i and what do i have to do to teach my son with the dx8 as the master? (with the blade400/dx6 as trainermodel), can i handover one channel at the time, how does the hole trainer thing work all together ?

thanks !

1. No. Either download one of the setup files from the DX8 support site (and validate the settings work correctly for your heli) or set it up from scratch.

2. Easy, put a bind plug into the RX on your heli and power it on. It'll start flashing fast telling you it's in bind mode. Then turn on the DX8 while holding the bind button. DX8 will tell you it's binding to the receiver. Read the binding instructions in the manual for the DX8, pretty good.

3. Read the manual on the DX8 training setup. Experiment with it with one of the motor leads unplugged from your heli so you get an idea of what the servos move like without having the heli fire up unexpectedly. If you can find someone else that knows how to fly a heli have them test out the buddy box concept before having someone who doesn't know how to fly try it out. My experience says buddy box at a high altitude so you have time to recover the heli before it goes in when the student makes a mistake.

thanks, a word on the trainer setup...

while you can pass over one channel at a time, it's not really possible with any ccpm heli... since three servos are mixing at all time... so hand over pitch and cyclic controls together or not at all...

but it seems fine anyway to hand it all over at the same time... havn't done it yet in practice but it works on the work table...

also a pretty big hassle to change what channels you handing over... you have to turn off the dx8 and start it up with the roller-button pushed to get in the menu to change the trainer settings...

rest a jschenck said...

thanks!

I just upgraded from a dx6i to dx8 and pretty much nothing transfers over. I set my helicopter up from scratch

You'll also have to reverse elevator swash numbers
