Start up Motor Cut Off
Question for all of you more experienced with this heli. I am flying my MCPX and have this happen on occasion. I plug the battery in, set it down, and when I start to apply throttle, the motor will start up (as it should) and start spinning the blades and then it cuts off. So I pull the stick back, try feeding it in again and it does the same thing. Sometimes the third time is the charm, sometimes I unplug and replug the battery and it works fine.

It is not an everytime thing but it does happen enough that it does get annoying. Any thoughts?

Throttle curve that it happens in is normal mode and the curve is.

I cant really help you with your problem but why do you have your TC setup like this..??
The thing is flying at what 1/3rd stick..??

Why not a linear curve.

First at linear stick the head speed would be changing up and down all over the place. Being an electric as opposed to a nitro, you add more pitch the motor will draw what amps it needs for given headspeed so essentially once I hit 100 on the throttle curve, that is the rpm it will maintain (based on if the battery is charged...as the voltage drops so will the headspeed).

Given my pitch curve it hovers at a little more than 1/2 stick. In my stunt mode it is 100 percent throttle all the way across

They draw of the motor shuts the esc down. Ours do this. The throttle curve can't be that abrupt or the esc shuts down. Do the linier throttle and just switch to idle up once the blades are spinning or drop to 25 on your 2nd point.Friends don't encourage friends to fly helis! It can cause part shortages.

Ah.....as I thought but odd the the esc is so light weight. No worries, just gives me another reason to go Brushless

LOL Maybe they programed it like that so newbies would learn slower throttle commands or maybe the esc can't handle the amp change. Either way they are awsome!
My blushless one has alot of problems on startup, I can't program endpoints on my esc so therfore I can't program it. I may need to buy a new esc.

Try when starting it up to give abit of left rudder and throttle up slightly. As soon as it starts spinning let go of the rudder and off you go.
Works for me.
Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

Sorry but what does left rudder have to do with it? Sounds odd but if it works that is awesome.

@MichFlyer....what brushless did you go with? I am going with the Wow as have seen several of these and have not seen an issue with any of them as of yet

I know it sounds wierd but my MCPX does the same thing from time to time. Normal mode and throttle up ,,motors go on for an instant then off. Left rudder keeps the tail from turning on and I guess the transient power spike isn't as much .. I tied it while holding it and then removed the tail motor plug and it never happened. It works for me. It may or may not work for you but what the heck it's worth a try! You dont even have to fly it,,just hold it in your hand and try it.
Let us know what happens.
