My custom frame design
Hi guys,

My first post over here. I designed a set of custom aluminum frames for my trex 600e and I thought I would share. I built my first CNC machine a few months ago and then started playing with frame designs.

This is what I came up with. Direct servo to swash, upper motor mount, and looks pretty cool.

I love to see a man build his own CNC and make a nice looking frame like that. Good work.

Thanks guys,

Yes I converted a 20 year old round column mill/drill to CNC. The build thread for the machine is on the CNC Zone forum here:
http://www.cnczone.com/forums/bench..._selection.html

I knew how to draw in CAD but then I had to learn to generate the machine code with a CAM program. I picked that up pretty quick but it was a little harder translating cut feeds and speeds from feel with a manual machine to hard numbers to put into the code.

One of my first parts I made is on my You Tube channel along with a few other vids of parts and stuff.

As for the heli it flies great! It feels lighter then it did before but so much changed at one time it is hard to tell what made it feel like that. I run a BeastX on it for a flybarless controller.

One reason for widening the lower frame was so my 12s a123 packs would fit in the bottom. I realize I am in the minority flying a123's but it would be even better with the lighter lipo's and you can pack a lot of pack in that frame!

Dude this is cool but maybe you should call it The KREGAN 600 since Align didn't design it. Just a thought good stuff.

That is beautiful. I built my own CNC flame cutter (for plasma cutter) and after learning cnc and writing programs to modify the CNC code for my particular machine, but I kinda gave up after the daunting task of learning CAD for 3D work.
You have done an increadable amount of work to get to that frame. But the great thing is the the 2nd duplicate frame will be easy. And every frame after that will be identical (except for broken bits or hogging)
Again, my hats off to you.
Paul
