Hello,

I just bought a Blade SR Electric Heli as a starter Heli. I have learned to hover via a simulator and was able to hover. But the bird was unstable and blew around a bit. I heard Gas Heli's are more stable. The hobby shop I bought the Heli from has a Raptor 30 Version 2 I can upgrade to but no radio. Is the Rapor 30 a decent Heli and if I do upgrade is there a reasonably priced radio out there for this bird. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Yeah that heli is perfectly fine for learning on and doing basic 3d maneuvers. The power isnt extremely impressive because it is so small of a nitro. BUT, buy a good 8ch or so radio. Research radios though before you purchase one. Check pros and cons of each and issues each has. I have had several friends have problems with Spektrum. Futaba is a good choice i believe or hitec. Spektrum is nice though.

But sure the heli will be better off than the SR. The SR i noticed has a head issue. Too flimsy and moves around a bit too much. You will like the bigger bird better.

And also, an awesome thing about the Raptor 30 is you can upgrade it to a 50 size with just a few upgrades. Keep that in mind because the 50's is where the power really starts to kick in.

Good luck, and give it a try

A Raptor 30 with a OS37 is a very good combo.

P.S. sorry for the spelling or the grammar I am dyslexic!

A r30 size. The fuel consumption is low so you get more air time. And that what counts, and parts are cheap. Great heli to start with.
