Just flew my Aerial Tech Quad this afternoon in 25 mph gusting winds ... I must say that this DJI wookong is fantastic! I was a little skeptical at first because I have flown several of the quad controllers on the market and was not real happy with any of them .. The 91Q was good but the DJI controller is simply 10 times better. I was suprised on how well it handled the wind... As soon as I get the video uploaded to youtube I will post it ... Also I should mention that Aerial Technologies brought out thier new Hexacopter Prototype ... with 6 OS 30 E-Motors this thing was a Monster!!! I will dig thru the piks and see if I got a good picture ...

Dr. Tim,
I am currently using the 91Q with compass and gps but am interested in this DJI wookong you say is 10X better. Will it handle six motors ? And how much does it cost. I looked on their site but I want to follow exactly what you are doing.
You are multicopter man to go to.
Mine is a frame from Hoover Things and is 56 cm across the center, spinner tip to spinner tip. I have 10, 11, &12 inch props of different pitch to play with. Need to get my Eagletree hooked up to watch motor current and prop speeds.

Hello Paul .. Well worth the money!! I was truly suprised on how much better the control is with this setup .. As you know I have tried the others .. It will do 4, 6, or 8 motors ... Download the manual , It's a good read! Gary from Aerial Technologies brought out a MONSTER Hex .. still looking for a picture .. I will post it once I find it!
Here is the Video I promised .. http://youtu.be/SHUaJyW0dF8

Hey Dr Tim....

That was very stable for the amount of wind. What did you have your Basic gain settings at. Have you tried Return to Home and Land.

I also switched from the FYQ to the DJI WKM. I also went to the Xaircraft X650 frame as the arms are stiffer so I get less vibration and I get a smoother video. Then I put my camera on a 2 axis gimble and that really made for some good video.

Here is a camera mount, low cost and very well made. I strap mine on with heavyduty rubber bands to make it removable. But I like his idea on the simple design yet vibration damping.

Dr Tim,
The only DJI wookong I can find on the DJI site is for regular helicopters. I checked the manual on the site but it only shows setup for helicopters, not quads/hexs. Same about the price, showing about $1200.
Can you give this primitive old man some links. Much appreciate your time and that video of flying in the wind was increadable.
