For sale is a 450 size Agusta 109 with the NYPD paint scheme and decals. Had a boom strike and repaired and repainted, flies great! Need the money to fund another project - want to build a NOTAR, like in the background! Thanks for looking!

You say it comes with a Transmitter and receiver? Which spectrum TX? Is there any damage to the inner tail boom? was it crashed before? Is it flying alright now? 250.00 for all of it?

I noticed the crashed Notar, were you in it when that happened, damn I hope you weren't hurt. If you weren't I bet you cried when you looked at it. Man, that's a 6 or 7 million dollar bird isn't it?

What happened, turbine failure? Autorotation? Sorry for all the questions, if I'm being nosey, tell me to butt out. Thanks much, Boney

I stand corrected - BNF with Spektrum receiver only - no radio! It was crashed one time and fixed back to new. One of my best flying helicopters! So $250.00 for BNF no radio!

As for the crashed NOTAR - I was not onboard but almost cried when it crashed! It has left our department with only one helicopter! The reason for the crash was Vortex Ring State or settling with power during a training flight upon landing! Minor injuries and everyone walked away. $850,000 to repair and would cost $1.8 million for the MD520N,the MD900N is around 6.2!
Thanks!

Thank you for telling me about it. Vortex state along with ground effect. Top blades acting as a gyro on there own. I'm I correct to say the only way out of that situation is to power up and take off again, because fighting the effect only makes it worse? But if your rotor speed is too low not much you can do right? I'm learning and lover choppers so much, any info like this great for me.

I've wanted to go up in a chopper since I was a young boy and have never had the opportunity. I'm almost 50 now and I have that as number one on my bucket list. Being disabled doesn't allow too much funds to learn to fly. I'm lucky to have been able to do the modeling I've done. LOL I have over 1500 hours in FSX flight simulation rotor craft. At least in there I can fly anything from a MD-902 to EC-135. My favorite if the Bell 412 Cera that makes this bird for FSX made it very realistic, for a sim that is. I'd give anything to be allowed the stick of a real bird for five minutes just to say I can do it. Thank you.

No, you would need to either get translational lift back (air speed in any direction horizontaly) or enter an autorotation. Vortex Ring state needs 3 things to develope. Air speed less then Effective Translational Lift (ETL), descent rate greater then 300ft/m, 30% or greater power applied.

Autorotation would be out of the question below a certain altitude, so your pretty much fffft unless you have the rotor rpms up to give you movement or ETL right? Thank you for helping me understand. Are you a pilot also?

Sorry for using your post for other things ou812, but at leat we are keeping it at the top for you.

Autorotation should never be out of the question. I have autoed a full size helicopter from as little as a foot in a hover with zero airspeed. The Robinson R22 I fly has instuctions in the pilot operators handbook on how to hover from 0-8ft, 8-500ft, 500ft and above. If your piloting the helicopter corectly you should never unknowingly find your self in a situation with a rotor RPM to low to safetly perform an autorotation.
