Was looking at the parts list on Heli Proz and I am seeing a different set of gears with a different gear ratio than what I have on mine. Whats the deal on them, give me the low down on them. My main is the 164 tooth one. Was I missing something there?

They make a new mod 1 gear set. Well worth the money. Not sure about a ratio change

Gear ratio is the same ~8.2
Mod .7 gear is 164T/20T = 8.20 ratio (stock 700N gears)
Mod 1.0 gears is 115/14T = 8.21 ratio

Why is the change well worth the money? Do you just have to change the pinion and main gear or is there more to it?

The mod 1 gears are stronger, less prone to breaking in flight. Having said that I put well over 2 years on the stock mod .7 gears (not even the upgrade part number .7 gears, box stock gear set) with no problems. When I assembled the pinion bearing block I sanded the face of the two halves a little so they would grab the pinion bearing a little tighter, used the stock plastic bearing block.

At the time I said I'd fly the stock gears and pinion block until I broke a gear then I'd replace with a newer part number gear set and a metal bearing block. Never broke the gear so I never upgraded.

So I guess that it really does not make a difference because the ratio is still the same. Guess I'll change it when something happens , or when something wears out.

Yeah, I did counter the same thing once. I have to agree, will only replaced it when I have to.
