Howdy all
I was lookin' around the interweb today wonderin' if anyone has got any steampunk rc helis, or whether or not it would be possible to build one in that style. What are your views?

I think it would be really cool to do a steam punk heli. It would just be some decorations maybe a canopy airbrushed to look like wood with brass bindings, pipes, gauges, etc. I've seen steam punk playstations and Xboxes. It would definitely be doable and very unique and if done right would not effect flight. Cool idea.

You could put a little "Steampunk" dolly in the cockpit and fly it around in big figure eights.

Something like this?

It's a real working steam engine. Just don't know where to mount the boiler.

And I thought the Goth subculture was wierd. That's creepy. Reminds me of the General and spider machine in the movie Wild Wild West.

I thought it would be an interesting build too, I just wanted to know if it had been done before.

NiCad i got this crazy thought today when i was down cleaning up my shop. If your going to build one mabe use a 4 stroke plane motor, that would give it a real cool sound to add to the heli ... Plus its been done befor (4 stroke heli) so you know it will fly

no babe i swear i sold my other heli to buy this one :)

Don't they use four-stroke engines for the petrol-fueled helis?

Where did the "Gothic" come from?
steampunk = damn cool
HELL YEAH!!!

Anyways, I've been thinkin' that seein' as most helis are made of carbon fiber (Or some kind of composite material) & aluminum (Possibly bits of other metals too like in the rotor shaft) to keep the weight down to a minimum.
I had a look around on the interweb (Actually I just "googled" steampunk) & I saw a lot of the stuff has (or may have) quite a bit of weight to it.
Now, would it be possible to paint the heli in a steam-punk theme?

If you had a good airbrush artist I bet they could come up with something very cool.

Yeas I reckon that could be possible. Maybe paint the Silver-Graphite airframe to make it look like rusted steel or somethin'

Weng,

That is too cool!

Is that a Stuart engine on your machine?

Not steam punk, and not helicopter, but steam:
