Everytime after run, sure we get red eyes, coughing and itchy skins.
we don't. at best it's just the annoying smell sometimes, and other times the smell's quite nice. We also fly sufficiently far away that the wind blows it out.

if you are worried about getting it on your hands etc. . wear gloves. I use to, just don't bother now. Whenever I accidentally get fuel on my hands I spray it off with the water bottle spray I keep around for things like that - dilution is a wonderful thing.

you either have very sensitive skin or in the process of maybe developing an allergic reaction to it, in which case your best bet would probably be to go electric.

Nitro Fuel Replacement - Toxic Nitromethane and Methanol
sks is right, a lot of precautions steps needed for nitro.

Don't take food while meddling with nitro.

OS come out with Bio-ethanol Engine. But it is for airplane.
Yes, finally a safe and health conscious company make
a good engine.

Therefore, I urge all manufacturers here, produce more safer
engines like Bio-ethanol.

Bio-Ethanol is much safer than Nitro and Methanol.

Regards,
Prof Lee

I personally don't think that will happen. Electrics will take over and the interest in IC engines will dissipate.

problem solved for you!

and is bio-ethanol as powerful as nitro fuel? I'm sure by the time they have to tinker with it, adding oils and other supplements to meet the demands of helicopter engines it's going to be just as toxic as the nitro fuel we are using now.

if you have health problems with nitro don't fly it, you don't need me to tell you that your health is more important to you than your hobby.

I must admit this has been a fun and annoying, thread!

It exemplifies freedom of speech and expression. I asked Mr. Lee (the originator of this thread) what his point was.

I guess his point simply is to make a bio-friendly engine.

Hey, I can't argue with that. If the engine and fuel manufacturers can make an engine that burns bio-fuel (green energy) and can put out the same power as a nitro engine; then I am all for it.

Who can argue for safer alternatives and save the environment at the same time. It would be a "Win Win".

I am interested to see how far this thread will continue on. I have been strangely following this for some unknown reason. Maybe too much time on my hands!!!!

I really don't know what Mr Lee's point was at all. If he's having problems with nitro don't fly it. This is a hobby, no one's putting a gun to your head and forcing you to play with rc helis.

and biofuels must be one of the most moronic things imaginable, why waste valuable land growing fuel when land can better serve for agriculture/food crops/grazing for cattle etc . ?

Mr Lee should have the decency to tell us what his agenda is, because this is all looking suspect from where I'm standing.
I did experience burning and red eyes. And, sneezing, inhale the fumes.
My vision is blurry nowadays. Also, You can check wikipedia on the dangers.
it's quite simple really: don't do it! Like don't put your head in the oven and turn on the gas, or cross a busy road with lots of fast moving traffic wearing a blindfold, or step off the edge of a cliff because you want to have a better look, or . . . etc. . . etc. . .

if you want to treat us like idiots then we have the right to treat you like one.
