Lol flydan, you are too funny...

The fuel is not nitro methane. It is Methanol,

Sure there is some nitro methane added but its not a fuel in the percentages we use.

Technically these run on glow fuel but some people in the world have adopted the word nitro I think because it sounds more exciting.
No need to jump on him. He isn't wrong and you're not entirely right.

Fuel ingredients:

47-72% Methanol
10-30% Nitromethane
18-23% oil

Wildcat 30% heli fuel contains 1.5 parts methanol to 1 part nitromethane. Don't tell me that isn't significant.

When you have what is obviously a helicopter in front of you and someone asks if it's a helicopter, what should a polite person say, for crying out loud?

by far the top questions I hear:
- how high can it go? (higher than I can control it, although the same radio gear on gliders is used to fly extremely high)

- can you put a camera on it? (I have, and at the end of the day, it's boring. this hobby is all about the aerobatics).

oops, bounced it!

Not for all who fly. AP and FPV and just hoovering around is fine for many on here, particularly for scale..

We had a guy ask, "Do you need to sharpen those blades often?"
We often do a split hair test. You spin the blades backward by hand. You then hold a strand of hair. If the backward spinning blade slices clean, then you are golden. But, if it does not, time to sharpen those blades with wet stones with oil.

I am just about old enough to safely operate this flying guillotine. It takes 30 years of intense training to operate this without harming others or myself.

If it cost that much why didn't you just get your pilot licenses?

The other one I get a lot is...

Can you fly a real helicopter?

@ Whoamis,

Lol wow, I can't say I've ever had one of my machines "explode" I suppose you've experienced some pretty epic crashes. I do like the analogy of the swinging lawnmower, maybe I'll use that. But, I don't know how much it'll convince a bystander not to stick his had in my rotor disc.

I don't consider myself to be better than anyone becuase I can fly R/C and they can't it's just some of question are asked are just dumb. I'm typically not rude if you seem genuinely interested in learning, but I usually get the guy who knows nothing and is trying to impress me or his friends with dumb statements...like I wouldn't know the difference...but they just want to challenge me anywyas..whatev right=)

Not to say all of my encounters have been negative. Some bystanders are very intelligent and respectful. I like that and I'm happy to chit chat with them and answer any question they put forth. It's all about how I'm approached initially.
