Ahhh yes, how about the one where the father and son are watching and the father says to the son "they fly these cause they cant afford the real thing" Now this was many years ago when I was a kid but it stuck in my head forever. My mom happened to be at the field with me at the time when the comment was made and went ballistic on the guy LOL, you just have to know her

One mile of road will take you one mile. One mile of runway will take you anywhere in the world.

The one that really gets me is, "Is it real?"

Just how does one answer that? I wonder what exactly they are thinking to formulate that question.

People are interesting, aren't they?

The best question I have ever heard was this, happened almost a decade ago now.

After a flight I had a funny sound in the drivetrain. So after the flight I was spinning by hand the rotorhead on the bench and looking for what might cause it.

Guy comes up and says nice heli.

Then says, "Are you winding it up for the next flight?"

This was a 50 size heli, no giant rubber band. He looked scared as I started laughing hysterically, haha

Flying a Trex600ESP and Radikal, guy comes up and asks during the conversation,

"wanted to get one for my kid, he is 7, so what does it cost? like around $200?"

a wet-fart/laugh sound accidentally came out my mouth

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

I've gotten a few my self.

One gentelmen asked if the heli would explode if it crashed?....

I can remember another guy asked me if I ever put a camera on it and hover it at someone's window while they were showering. I just rolled my eyes. And asked him now what would I want to do that?

Someone once stated my heli was on fire becuase of the smoke from the exhaust. Then, he proceeded to tell me I should land and check it out. I was just like I'll be sure to do that when I land.

My favorite was another very rude gentlemen who declared that my CF 620mm blades, spinning at 1700rpm couldn't hurt him. I told him not to test his theory out on my heli becuase he could lose some fingers or break bones and cost me money, but he insisted that the were just made of foam and that I was just talking my "toy" up. He then proceeded to walk out to my idling heli with his hand reached out. I immediately shut my ship down while yelling at him to stop. In the end, I was able to stop him before he did it...but not out of concern for his safety, but for my machine. I didn't want his finger guts all over my brand new blades and my heli was flying so good that day. If not for that fact, I just might have let him do it....lessoned learned...freak'n idiot.

I always seem to get the guy who has one, but it's somewhere else and when you ask them questions about their heli, they never seem to remember any details about it. Very annoying when they try to talk shop, but have no clue what the hell they are talking about. I'll just continue what I'm doing and act like they're not even there. Eventually, they do go away.

@Ladymagic

- yes, mine seems to explode whenever I crash.

- I like to tell people that the blades are carbon fiber swords with a tip speed in excess of 400 mph, and why would anybody want to get anywhere near something like that?

Would you walk under a lawnmower swinging from a rope?

oops, bounced it!
