Ok, so I finally got my 700 up and running and had a bad , bad tail wag in hover with 50% gain on Tx and no adjustment to the gui. I had a similar issue on my 550E with 3G , but only in idle up. I went into the gui on the X and lowered the total gain to 40 and the rudder lock to 45 and boosted the Tx to 70 for hover, which is similar to what I did for my 550. Should that take care of my issue or at least have me in the right direction? Thanks!

50% gain = what?
Is that 50% on a Futaba menu? That equals about 75% end point?

50% on my DX8. According to the 3GX setup, 50-100% on tx is head holding. under 50% is normal mode.

Hey.

You can easily test if the channel ATV is split into two halves by lowering the gyro gain channels ATV values and watching the gyro LED on the 3GX.
When it is green you are in heading hold mode, when it turns red you are in rate mode. Not where the switch over point is in the ATV travel range.

From memory I dont think the DX8 splits the ATV values into two halves as a Futaba set does, but the above test will answer the question fully.

coolice, that's what it stated for JR/Spektrum setups. Now my first hover was fine until I pushed the throttle up quickly once and then it started wagging. I realized later that the gyro function was inhibited in my tx. When I opened it up and assigned a switch and 50% value it started right from liftoff on the next flight wagging badly. Now I've flown a 600 and my current 550 with 3G with little issue. This is just my first 3GX and electric 700 (had a Predator gasser) and I want to be cautious.

Hey.

I'm flying JR/spektrum and went to below 50% gyro gain in heading hold mode, but I did assign the AUX2 channel in my DSX12 to a normal channel with +- ATV values.

As you want to be safe check the gyro led behaviour or set the transmitter ATV's at 70% and adjust the overall gyro gain down using the PC link software.

I figured it out. My own boo-boo. I was just using the Spektrum sats, and had the gyro on the gear channel and the gov on aux2 like the Futaba setup. Swapped and everything is good! That also fixed my weird throttle hold behavior. I'm not using the gov, but it was active, now it's not and it's all good.
