I think overall its a great airframe.....although it would be nice to have decent bolt hardware that comes with the kit.....the stock links suck, I hate the servo to bellcrank links,,,,,make the new version direct servo to swash....that would make initial assembly so much faster. And it would centralize more of the weight around the mainshaft. And get rid of all that damn slop in the swash. Another thing that would be nice is a triple main shaft support. The metal le tail has a lot of slop.....that also was a mandatory upgrade. The clutch was a horrible blunder! Hmmmm did I forget anything....?? It was a good bang for the buck when I first bought it...but after I upgraded everything, I was in as much as if I woulda bought a jr helicopter...LOL maybe they might fix some of this with some revisions one day with a v2 of the 700n.....y'all let me know. Pigs will have pilots licenses by then I'm sure
Ok I have read this and here I go

Links have been fixed I no longer hear are read about this problem

Clutch is not the problem we have a new liner blue in color that is thicker, this is to help the braking problem but a clutch my brake after x many of flights not even the aftermarket ones hold up this is a wear item.

Direct servo is nice but will beat the hell out of any servo and is a cheaper way of producing a heli push/pull is more effective.

there is a new tail hub V2 tail hub that solved the play problem and align went back and add the shim now also

Ill point to Colin Bell flies hard fly’s allot and does maintenance which is key.

Now this not an attack on you or anyone, just pointing things out from my side

Note i went back and edited this post so it made more sense

The Align V2 grip upgrades are nice I did both my helis, but had to order a seperate pack of shims to get them to work properly Snapping tail bolts used to be an issue, well see if the new hub and bolt fixes it.

The frame screws seem to have improved as well as the ball links, they used to suck.

The slop in the tail is the biggest issue I had, and the bearings seem to wear out a little quickly. Overall its still the best 700 bang for the buck. Parts availability is great. I don't run the stock head spindle bolts either.

My first set of Align links on my 700N wore out in about 100 flights.

However, the new set of Align balls/links I put on are holding up excellent. Links are still tight after 70+ flights.

I relined my clutch bell with a hirobo liner, since I still had the black Align liner in it. Still have the original clutch after almost 200 flights so far.

I think Align started including deeper frame bolts. I bought some spare parts that included the notorious frame bolts, and compared it to the ones on my machine right now. The ones on my machine have a much deeper hex hole for the driver to grab in.

Have yet to strip any of these bolts out. I could see it happening if someone is using a crappy driver and doesn't insert it full.

I don't find the bell cranks difficult to setup on the 700N. I think it took me 15 minutes to get all the links done for my cyclic servos on my 700N. It's very easy to setup using the align servo horns.

I really enjoy my 700N. It's been the same great heli my T-Rex 600N was, except bigger

My 700 is hands down the best heli I have ever owned! Been flying since 99 and have owned many many helis from JR to Robbe and minair. There is not one heli on the market that is perfect out of the box. I think it is aligns fault for giving people so much for so little

With that being said I have made some small changes to my kit but they where not needed but more about making my heli mine. I have zero slop in my tail after 10 or so gallons. Stock clutch and my links are finally free and and what I would call broke in (first 5 or so gallons they where very tight) I have been having some probs with the start shaft oneway. Very small problem and just needs to be cleaned and oiled when I have time.

Coming from high end kits where you didn't get anything extra or even a painted canopy I am very happy with the align kits. A fury kit in 2003 was $1400.00 and you had to chuck up the main shaft in a drill with sandpaper to get it to fit in the bearing blocks and if that wasn't enough the boom was $85.00 alone. So when it comes down to it we got it very good now!

Don't want to be accused of trying to hijack a thread, but the V2 tail issues are common to both the nitro and electric. I tried everything to get my tail to work properly - V2 grips and hubs, then had to get the shims, added the KDE upgrade (both the new slide control mechanism and the new grip links. Nothing I could do could get the slider to work without binding with the tail shaft. Even replaced the tail shaft and slider bushing.

I finally bailed out of that system, and went with an I2 tail, and so far it has resolved all the tail issues I have seen. It is really smooth with bearings in both ends of the links, and my tail is now where it should be -- however, I haven't flown it yet. I have run it up on the ground and verified the tail jerking and chirrping have disappeared.

One of the main grips did not have the counterbore for the grip bolt. How in the he%% do you completely miss a machining operation with CNC equipment????

Align has fixed the problem with the v2 tail and now there is a shim with it. its amazes me how you can have a problem in the tail all mine are stock and work great are smooth and never have any binding you need to look at the dog bones and make sure there is no lock tite in and around the brass insert and make sure that you have not over tightened the screw that will cause a tail wag.

A small amount of drag is normal on the tail shaft when things are new, once the slider and shaft wear in your good, a small amount of stacking play in the tail system is normal from the servo back and i just cant see this effecting the way the tail works i have hundreds of flight on my helis and never see any of these issues in the tail.

my 2cents

You say they have fixed the problem with the tails. Well, maybe they addressed the issues of the spindle bolts breaking, because of design issues (for the record, I have 2 500s and 2 600s to go with this 700 and no broken spindle bolts yet) but they definitely didn't design the original V2 tail hub/grips properly.) I had to order a V2 tail to be safe, because I got the old V1 black tail in my nice new V2 kit, and I got the V2A setup with no shims, and had to order separate shims.

I don't call having a slider that feels like it is moving on sandpaper something that will wear in. After having to order a new slide bushing and tail shaft, I was able to get part of the binding out, but it was still rough enough that I didn't want to risk it causing a crash.

In addition to a makeshift V2A/B/shim purchase, I ended up going with an I2 tail kit. You know what?? I got a tail that doesn't bind in the least amount, and grip bolts that are properly fitted so that they engage the nylon lock nut.

That has been my experience with the V2 tail setup on my 700. I thank you for your input, but the problem is with distributor and manufacturing. It shouldn't take multiple forum threads and many user responses before the factory can see a problem. Prototypes are built for a reason - to find and correct issues from manufacturing. Team pilots should be to work with the factory to find and bring the attention to issues, right? I'm sorry, but I just don't feel your helis are stock off the shelf kits like we get. I bet you haven't ever gotten a "new V2" kit that has not even been completed machining (no counterbore for main grip bolts).

That's what this thread is about to discuss what we like or dislike about the 700, right?
