Suffolk University Law Professor Writes Email Condemning Care Packages on Veterans Day for Those Who’ve “Gone Overseas to Kill Other Human Beings”

November 15, 2011

Just days before Veterans Day, a law professor at Suffolk University sent an email out to his colleagues in the Law School who had initiated a collection of donations in order to fund care packages sent to troops serving the nation overseas.

In the letter, Professor Michael Avery writes:

I think it’s shameful that it is perceived as legitimate to solicit in an academic institution for support for men and women who have gone overseas to kill other human beings.”

Those words didn’t sit well with the Suffolk senior and Army veteran who served two tours in Iraq – Brooks Foley.

“Obviously, I was upset,” he said. “To wake up and read something like that … it stirred a lot of emotions with me.”

So, Foley responded by writing an email to the professor in question, telling him in part that he is glad Avery and his family are safe while Foley’s friends, family and fellow soldiers are overseas fighting to provide that security.

Foley said he still has yet to receive a response from the professor.

I think that it's a shame that Professor Avery can't be taken to Iraq and left to roam among his fellow human beings there for a month of two. I think that his attitude towards the military would improve greatly, if he survived that is.

Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about!

This is upsetting he would even have the nerve to send out that email. Here is Michael Avery's contact info in case you would like to send him a note of appreciation.

Just another LIBERAL academic puke that has no concept of what it takes to provide the very freedom that he so enjoys.

I suspect this jerk has no joy. His life is most likely one of misery and despair...and it is well deserved.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, even if it isn't 100% right like mine.
