I need to get some new lipos for my trex 550 and was thinking of going with the Gens Ace 6s 5300mAh or the Spyder 6s 53000mAh. The Spyder packs r about $50 more than the Gens Ace but I haven't used either brand before. I wouldn't mind spending the extra $50 provided the spyder packs r worth it! So what do u guys think?

I have a few smaller Spider packs that work great. Also, I beleive they are made in the USA if that matters to you ( but I;m not 100% sure of that).

Well on the other size I've never flown Spyder packs but trying out Gens Ace and think they are better than the Turnigy packs I used to fly and seems almost as good as my Hyperions packs. Don't have hundreds of of cycles on them yet.

Gens Ace
I have very good experience with them so far.

Works great for their price range. I use 3300 and 4000's.
Either get packs with replacement program like TP and pay
top $
or go low cost, good quality and no warranty.

I have been using a 3 cell 2200 ma Spyder Batt in my rc planes for at least a month. Charging it at 7 amps. No puffing no problems so far. Take it rght out of Plane and charge it and it is cooler after charge then before! Fastest charge about 20 minutes. cells r staying in good balance! Progressive rc is only one that has them as far as i know. In the battery section on rr there is thread all about spyders.dave

Thanks for ur input guys! Both brands seem to have positive reviews from u guys but for now I think I'll get a couple of packs of spyders and see how it goes. If I don't like them then I can always go for the Gens Ace next time. Thanks again for ur help

Where do you get Spyder packs from? Progressive?

It's easy to find an excuse to do wrong. Hard is not to find an excuse to do right.

I bought a 6cell 2600 mAh Spider pack for my Protos 500. This pack out lasts 2 other 2600 packs and out does 2 3300 packs by ~1 minute.

I haven't tried a Gen Ace pack yet, maybe next year.

Can you prove it ? thanks.
Progressive rc is only one that has them as far as i know.
identical story for "crapuffed" PULSE packs...
cheap cells from big supplier in china + marketing = bad lipos for a lot of $$$

Yes I can! Check Wingman 77 flight log. I believe his last log as for flight 375. All data has been logged and multiple videos during the testing of these batteries are posted under this thread. All charges were between 5 & 10c. For me the proof was in the pudding. Check it out.

I've heard good things about the Gens Ace batts.
Its all hearsay to me anyways.
I'm in the market for a few 10s batts for my Furion6.
Looking forward to reading more comments on quality batts with cheaper prices.

The Gens Ace 5300 packs are working very well in my 550. I have 4 packs, about 35 cycles on each. Circuits, flips, rolls, loops. Parallel charged at 2C. No puff no smoke

The main leads are somewhat short. To achieve proper CG on the 550, I run the packs with the leads on top, towards the motor.

I've got a few Gens Ace packs coming for my 10S Trex 600, so I'll report back if they are good, bad, or indifferent.

Gens Ace are great batteries for the price. I fly them in my 500 and they come off barely warm to the touch. No puffing and they balance nicely. I own 4 6S 3300's and have around 30 cycles on them. I highly recommend them. As a matter of fact, I intend to replace my 4 volts packs with these for my 600EFL. I'm not happy with voltz.
