Okay here are some really dumb questions, but what exactly goes on at IRCHA? I know there is flying but is it all competition flying or fun flying? I'm assuming both. Do they have seminars or instructions for noobs etc.? Do they have areas full of vendor displays, can you test drive the equipment? If you were only going to go for a day or two better to go at the beginning or end?

There is flying, both competition and fun flying. There are tons of vendors with good deals all over the place. There is a nice dinner for registered pilots on Saturday plus normal food vendors all the time. There's usually a large prize table with drawings on Saturday night plus a really nice display of fireworks. It is really fun all week long.

There are usually seminars for a range of things during IRCHA and the list seems to be getting bigger each year. As far as "testing" the equipment, not so much understandably. Most vendors do have displays of popular or new and upcoming items that you can feel and hold but no you can't just take one out and fly it.

I have my hotel reservations in I am ready to request the vacation time. WOooHOoo.

What goes on at IRCHA
Mayhem, alcohol, guns, hookers, fire trucks, YEAH!

Wait, that was last weeks bachelor party at grandmas'

oops

IRCHA Jamboree:
Site 4 (main site)

-Vendors
-Product Exhibitors
-about 20 200ft wide flight stations side by side ,
-flight demos at center stage,
-product clinics (some)
-good people everywhere,
-great people everywhere,
-Fuel vendors with gobs of cases at best the best prices,
and lots of golf cars.

Site 3 (middle site)

-Open/Classic/FAI style flying area (NOT 3D)
-Two beginers areas with absolute great folks training and pouring themselves over anyone needing help (thank you Gus)
-Camping site, with showers.
-Speed Run Event on Friday Noon-PM

Site 5
-Open flying
-Alien Ships parking lot
I never figure out what goes on there, but it works as an overflow for 3D guys from site 4. Lots of room for testing.

Driving into the biggest RC event in the world is a big WOW experience. But don't let that overwelm you.

Just remember, is just a bunch of guys that love RC helis like you and me.

Yes to everything! It is basically a fun fly with some competitions. There are seminars, demo's, Pro pilots that you can talk to, have your picture taken with, etc. There are lots of vender to shop from, lots of new product to see, plenty of food to eat there, and much more.

If you were to partake of everything there, you wouldn't have any time to fly. I've done that a couple of years there. So many demo's to watch, parties at night, night flying, etc.

On Saturday...pilot's meeting in the morning, seminars in the late morning, demo's in the afternoon to early evening, pilot's dinner in the evening, prize drawing right after to dark, then the night fly to 11:00 PM'ish. That is a full day in itself. All this on a 1/2 mile flight line.

If you want to see more...watch the IRCHA videos here on Runryder.

No,not 1 HUGE flight line, 5 flight lines, one quite a bit larger than the others. Any type of flying, MCPx to Logo Extremes and everything in between. Some of the best scale models you will ever see. Top FAI F3C pilots in action (if the NATS are held at same time again), AMA competition classes.
And of course the night flying in the hotel parking lots (and night flying every night at the AMA site.

Will be my first trip out there. Hotel is booked. Anyone want to split gas money from central NJ ? I always see the golf carts for getting around. I manage a bike shop, does anyone ride around on a bike to get to places ?

See em occasionally, and actually was one that was set up to carry his
heli/gear; made several trips over to site 3 w. it.

Even considered bringing mine this year; (do a lot more watching/ checking stuff out , than flying)......but did not bring it this year.

Edit: assume you are talking 'bicycles', not motor....?

And there has even been a Segway or two in the past...........

Typically the cart rental is based on X number of days. You would have to contact Salopek directly if you wanted one for 1 or 2 days. They are pretty good people and very accomodating.
