i have done a lot of reading up on the helibug conversions and i really like the look of them, but i would like to know how many are flying here in the UK?

i am planing on doing a trex 700 with a possibly stretch to 800, and using a 29rc engine.

I have a TREX 700 Helibug conversion also with an "Odified" engine. Had some initial problems with the standard Align clutch, changed it for a Quick UK one and replaced the liner with a Lynx one. I'm sure there is still some room for improvement with the clutch so have contacted Helibug about a Core 7 clutch, this is the same clutch as used in 5th scale buggies etc, much more robust and more than capable of taking the extra torque that a modified engine will produce. Currently Helibug are out of stock of the Clutch bell so still waiting.

When you gets yours up and flying make sure that you have a very good receiver pack installed, a full tank can take nearly 30mins to run out, a standard align receiver pack will be on its last legs well before the tank runs out.....

Enjoy and let us know how you get on?

Cheers

Graham

I am using the Lynx gas clutch. It is very nice. Hold fast.
@ally
Your solution seems to be good but requires a bit hard work.

How big is your gas tank?
I can't get 30 minutes with either of my machines and they run a 16oz tank....unless all I do is autorotations, then I can pull 33 autos in 35 minutes before flameout on the last 'real' auto.

Flying around 3D I get 15 minutes with about 5 minutes at best reserve with the Spectra, a little longer with the 1005 due to the slower engine running speed (gear ratio difference).

I can get about 20mins from full to empty using a 16oz tank on my Spectra with a Hanson G26 3D max.
Not recommended so I run the timer at 15mins to leave about 1 1/4 of a tank.
