So Matt let me fly his machine at the Atlanta fun fly a few weeks ago. I decided it was time to return the favor so I bought one. Looking forward to getting this machine in the air!

When you get that thing in the air we need to see some video. Gotta see if you still got the touch.

Eric Larson, dude your flying is one of the reasons I got into this hobby. Trying to remember which vid it was. I think maybe a Hornet or MA, can't remember. Looking forward to seeing you put that E6 thru its paces.

For noobs that don't know, Eric Larson was a highly visible 3D pilot a few years back.

He, along with Matt Botos and Bobby Watts, were the reason I really got into flying. When I think of my first year in the hobby, these are the three people that come to mind.

The first year I started these guys were all flying for Miniature Aircraft and wow were they flying, lol. I remember watching them at the Birmingham event (my first event ever) with an unyielding grin on my face.

Interesting story, I haven't heard anything about or from Eric in years and just over a month ago I get a call from Steve (seldred) asking "Do you know a guy named Eric Larson?". It took a few minutes to click. Steve continued to tell me that Eric just left his house, bought a heli from him. Cool.

Then, a few weeks later, we were flying with him at the Atlanta event. Still sporting the MA Stratus (along with a new Furion 6 that he just picked up from Steve) and still flying like nobody's business, it was really good seeing him.

Matt (in his ever professionally cool demeanor) offered to let Eric fly his E6, it was great seeing them back together, chatting it up and talking shop.

The E6 suited him immediately, no surprise that he picked one up.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Yes I took a much needed break for a few years. I've been flying heli's since age 14 and I flew at 2 or more events per month for over 10 years when I was flying professionally. I have a long history over at MinAir. After the Taiwan cup and some serious political issues on top of family issues I just melted down and stopped flying cold turkey.

I have been keeping tabs on the hobby all along. Matt and I go back quite a few years and he is one of the most passionate people I know in this hobby. I have been very impressed with what Matt has been able to do with Synergy. He has had more than a few challenges along the way and as you guys already know, he is a darn good guy. Though I've wanted to support him in the past by flying his models, nothing quite met my needs. That changed with this E6. I did my research and over the last 3 weeks I decided to pick up a model. Time will tell but its a darn nice kit laying on the work bench!

I have no idea what my plans are in the hobby. I am currently 100% free agent before anyone claims my comments are due to sponsorship. My 5 year old son is starting to fly so who knows where he will go with his flying. You guys that are part of the new Synergy Team have also been extremely nice and helpful! All I know right now is that I am having a lot of fun at the flying field and I want my new E6 in the air!!

Why did you pick the E6 configuration Eric? Fit your style better?

I'm flying the 600 size for a couple reasons right now.

First is tail performance. I do a ton of high speed piro style flying and though belt drives have a lot of positives they tend to suffer on the larger 700 class machines. Belts work on 700 class, but it is not my personal preference. I do know Matt is working on the shaft drive now so I'm waiting for it.

Second is flight time. I'm not flying balls to the wall power setups as I want the blend with flight time. I feel I found a sweat spot for my flying with 10s 4400 mah packs. I have no issue getting 5 min and put back about 6500 mah. I'm not sure of all up weight with the E6 but my Furion6 weighs in at 9lb5oz ready to fly. With 700 setups I'm only expecting 4 min on 12s setups with the way I fly.

The big advantage that I see to the E6 over other 600 size machines is it's size. The canopy is super visible and the machine is sized to accept much more powerful setups. In 600 configuration it easy to see and should be extremely reliable. I know Matt hates to fiddle with his machines for maintenance and that is apparent In this machine. It is relatively simple, but robust and proven technology.

Great explanation Eric. I'm flying mine as E6 as well and loving it! With over 100 flights on it now, my machine has been bullet proof and near maintenance free. Hope to see you at an event soon. Are you going to make Orlando this year?
