The wire came loose out of my 120 tail motor after I hung the mcpx up in a tree . I thought I could just buy the motor itself but it looks like it does not have the wires?

Do I have to buy the 35 dollar unit from WoW hobbies?

Did he crash? Dang I missed it!

Aces, just buy one from Horizon for $16. That's what I did:

Thanks guys
What I have is the wow conversion tail which is a 120 motor and holder but they have put in the smaller carbon rod so that it will fit the mcpx. If I buy a standard 120 tail it has a carbon rod that is too big for the mcpx right? I could buy just the motor (which I notice has a plug on it) and the boom with the wire that soupy showed and just replace the carbon with the correct size? Or buy the whole boom and motor from horizon and replace the boom I guess. Either way.

Did he crash? Dang I missed it!

I bought the $16 120 motor and boom. I cut the wire at the distal plug and then pulled the wire out of the inside of the hollow 120 CF boom. Then I cut a 5mm long piece of the removed 120 boom and shoved it inside the motor mount of the 120 motor. Then I drilled out the center of this same 5mm CF piece so that I could insert a 2mm CF rod into it. I guess I could have just as easily used a wad of epoxy to hold the 2mm rod into the 120 motor mount. I twisted the 120 wire loosely around the 2mm solid CF rod and affixed it with a couple of short pieces of heat shrink. Finally, to connect the tail motor to the circuit board, I shoved the bare wire into the circuit board after scraping off the last 3mm of insulation. I had originally planned to resolder a plug onto the wire, but it is just too difficult to solder that wire to the plug. It worked great until I crashed and broke the tail motor.

Wow thats alot of work. What I did was this. I took the SR120 boom and motor part, then unplugged the connector from the motor and pulled it through a little bit to get slack. Then I took a pair of pliers and started crushing the boom slightly working my way from one end to the other. By the time I got to the other end, I could then peel the boom in half like a banana, removing the wire. So now I have the mount and the wire....I take the 2mm solid rod, insert it into the mount and take a couple of pieces of the carbon to use as a shim and CA it all in place. So I don't have to re solder the connectors or hastles like that. Takes about 5 minutes and if I have to replace the motor just unplug it and install a new one

that is what I decided to do (except I just cut and resolderd the wire). And I like the heavier gauge wire as well. This setup works really well. I am definately going to get one of the carbon frames (maybe microheli) just so the tail boom is easier to clamp in place and replace.

Did he crash? Dang, I missed it!

It is a little bit tail heavy esp adding the extra length (just finished putting another one together in the hotel room to fly tomorrow at JR Efest in Columbus), but don't seem to notice it too much. I do push the battery forward a little bit though

tail heavy
These FBL helis just don't care much if they are tail heavy. At least I can't tell when flying (HARD 3D) and that's all that matters!

Some people cut down the SR120 tail blades...me I am really liking the Walkera tail balde. Seems to work well and smoothly.

Right!
Yeah, now I know what you're taking about, Ben. That is one sweet little bearing. I'm wondering what it's for also-

BTW - I've used the stock SR120 blade and also cut down by almost 1/2 inch and either way worked great. The motor is so oversized for this heli that you can run almost any size prop.
